Do you like Christmas?

I've seen my fair share of Xmas's.
Amazing ones as a kid growing up (add in your own warm nostalgia aesthetics here).
Dipped out when I got older (and my dad died at 11 so that changed things).

Then when I had my old children they became wonderful again (from a different perspective).

But I live alone now so hard to drum up much energy for it, and Xmas songs I've heard 1 trillion times being piped in shops quickly agitates my otherwise zen like nature!

Also realised a few years ago that much of the low level depression over xmas was over indulgence in alchohol and sugar, so thats stopped. Instead I'll ramp up the running and exercise.

But with laser guided timing now I've finished work I've been hit by a chest bug and feel rum ffs!!

i like Christmas when it's done in a low key and festive way - downing tools, seeing mates, seeing family, relaxing. Gifts to a minimum, try and make or pass on stuff instead of buying things from new. Listen to some music, watch a film.

Overall, just keep it calm and low key, and dont get embroiled in the awful commercialism of what modern holiday periods are now.

We had massive family xmas when i was a kid, then my sister died unexpectedly and it was never the same again.
From my teens through to late 40's i avoided it like the plague, preferring to be on a beach far far away.
Then my grandkids came along. ON xmas day we have breakfast together and they get their pressies. I'll have a little drink with daughter then fuck off before her mum turns up.
I've just done the food shop for xmas dinner which i will spend the day making whilst me and the breadknife have a drink and some tunes. I always get a bit maudlin at some point thinking of my Ma and Dad and Sis' but overall i really enjoy the day.
Boxing day for footy.
