Arsenal are a huge club and once they've paid off their stadium and have decent money coming in from naming rights will be able to challenge again in future if they decide to spend. In brutal terms of what is best for City, it's better if one of these long-term threats falls from grace at the hands of Spurs, and I say this with utter selfishness because Spurs are second only to the rags on my shit list, miles ahead of Chelsea and slightly ahead of Arsenal.adrianr said:Only if you told me that it would mean Chelsea missing out on 4th spot. They're the only club I think makes a difference to us whether they miss out or not.
Short sightedness is what the situation calls for. Chelsea are the immediate threat, Arsenal won't be there for a couple of seasons at least. We still have building to do, and still need to elevate our status amongst players considering a move here. Chelsea missing out will help us more than Arsenal.
Eitherway, as long as one of them drop out. Spurs need to hold on.

Chelsea and Arsenal are bigger threats than Spurs because they are clubs with much bigger revenues. Wanting one of those clubs to lose out to Spurs is very logical. Doesn't mean you want another club to beat you but can a loss hurt less if the damage is ultimately lesser in importance. Of course it can. In the same way that some victories mean more, some losses mean less. I was much less bothered about the prospect of being beaten by Chelsea on Sunday than I had been the rags. This meant I wasn't a nervous wreck the whole fucking day. Can't see why the OP is getting so much stick.
This.
