Do you smoke?

i had my first cig when about 7 years old.

i`ve been coughing in a morning for quite a while but recently got a cold and struggled for breath for a few weeks.

so off to the doctors i trotted, you need a chest x-ray she said, i went to the hospital and sat in the queue. shortly they called my name and i went in, the usual ensued, take off you shirt put your chin here hands behind your hips and deep breath, ping went the machine and radio-ographer took the plate out of the x-ray machine and disappeared while i put on my shirt. on re-entering the room she asked me to take my shirt off again and stand sideways on to the machine. at this stage i knew they had seen something and wanted another look (shit i thought) forty odd years of smoking cant of done me much good.

3 days later got the phone call i`d been expecting. made an oppointment and went to see the doctor.

well lets have it i said, they think you have an infection wahoooo i said. the doctor told me dont get excited just yet. your not out of the woods just yet, there maybe an infection but it still could be hiding something else behind it.

so at the moment im on my 2nd lot of antibiotics still no improvement, and will go back on monday for blood tests, and later another x-ray.

it focuses the mind to say the least. i`ve finished of some decorating i should have finished weeks ago and re-sealed the shower in the on suite just incase.

one thing that has crossed my mind is it will be just my fucking luck after all this bollox i`ve put up with over the years, i might not see the boys win the league and cl.

so anybody that still is, stop now, i know how hard it is, but it will be harder telling the wife and kid if the worst does come to the worst

yeah you and me both m8. i`ve tried to give up. but now i know i`ve succeeded let hope it`s not too late for both of us, and we have plenty of years left to scoff at the red bastards. best of luck sincerely

One of the best things I never learned to do was build spliffs. I smoke weed occasionally and love getting stoned but I just know that if I was able to skin up on my own all the time I'd be totally hooked on the stuff. I reckon it's more addictive than tobacco.

I smoked for around 15 years. then one day i thought i dont want to do this anymore, so packed in.
I started with on the patches for about 2 weeks, then packed them in as well. I hadnt been on the lash since stopping, & knew that would be the biggest test. so me & 2mates went out for a quit drink... ended getting hammered on tequila. (as you do).walked off with a scooter left outside the boozer & hid it behind some bins. blokes in the bar knew it was us, called the plod. we denied it ( mostly cos i had no memory of it) & cctv was so poor they could not id us. stupid I know, but i'm still off the cigs. 7 years & counting
