A weird concept that doesn’t bring anything to the country. In fact, it costs. Why would anyone be shocked that managers get bonuses for improving productivity by sacking workers? It's just capitalism.

Boss cuts 2 jobs, saving 60 grand, the pays himself an extra 30. Who pays more into the country?
Playing Devil's Advocate here but if the two sacked workers were on £30K each, they would have paid £3.5K income tax each. That's £7k.A weird concept that doesn’t bring anything to the country. In fact, it costs.

Playing the devils advocate is one thing, the reality of that person offsetting their tax to some haven means that we would get very little. And who does those 2 jobs?Playing Devil's Advocate here but if the two sacked workers were on £30K each, they would have paid £3.5K income tax each. That's £7k.
If the unscrupulous boss were to get a £30K payrise, that would be £12K more tax (at 40%.) If he/she/they/it earned over £150K then it is taxed at 45% and therefore be £13.5K to HMRC.
What about the indirect tax, the two workers would spend more of their money on the economy than the boss I reckon.Playing Devil's Advocate here but if the two sacked workers were on £30K each, they would have paid £3.5K income tax each. That's £7k.
