Why shouldn’t a union boss be on £84k ffs?! It’s an absolutely massive job. Ridiculous headline.
That if people get a pay rise, the money is "pushed back into the economy".
(Including student loan repayments, "For women working in legal, financial or medical professions, graduates face a marginal taxation rate of up to 51%, which lasts for between 16 and 22 years.")
One thing that I haven’t heard mentioned too many times ( at all ) during this dispute, is that one of the first things Lynch did when he was elected as General Secretary was to recommend to the annual conference that he thought the pay for the job was a bit high and recommended they reduce it. Which they did.
Plus it takes two sides to come to an agreement so in the absence of political bias one way or the other, both parties should be held equally accountable for the consequences of the failure to come to an agreement!!It’s interesting how the uncaring Tory government are now trotting out ‘the trade unions are ruining everyones Christmas holidays’ line.
The irony being that without trade unions the working class wouldn’t get Christmas holidays…….……….
Really like Mick Lynch. This society needs recalibrating. He’s one of the good guys. One thing that I haven’t heard mentioned too many times ( at all ) during this dispute, is that one of the first things Lynch did when he was elected as General Secretary was to recommend to the annual conference that he thought the pay for the job was a bit high and recommended they reduce it.
