How the fuck am I selfish, when I have to lose a day's pay every strike day, to show my displeasure at how we are treated by the government? They are the ones who are fucking over not just the unions, but all the working class in this country. Am I supposed to just doff my cloth cap and shuffle back to work for a system that would very happily cut my wages further, make me work longer hours and make it illegal for me to withold my labour? Fuck that.

So to ask an obvious question why do some staff stay In the industry? If they are that unhappy then why not choose a different industry?
I get some of the frustration and having not had a pay rise myself for 3 years now.
But others are the same, to be a lot of the demands seem unrealistic, where is the compromise from both sides?

Why are you complaining about not having had a pay rise? Just choose a different industry.

RMT have had 2 deals taken away at the last minute on the instructions of the government.

They want to cut our pay in some roles by up to 20% extend our hours and destroy our work/life balance 'for the needs of the business'.

Ask yourself would your train be safer with a driver that has had a minimum 12 hours rest between shifts or one that been given 9 hours?

Or a late night anti social running without a guard because it still has to run in time as they've been delayed on their earlier service.

Not every passenger knows how to use an app.

I like many others take pride in our jobs. We get embarrassed as were on the front line having to justify decisions such as trains not ordered to stop at suburban/rural stations because they are late and how they aren't entitled to alternative transport to get them there. This is in the management contracts they want to put in as part of "modernisation."

Their idea of reforming the railways has nothing to do with passenger safety and comfort. It's about making profits for stakeholders and destroying trade union influence in one of the few industries it's still strong.

So if you've got an issue write to your MP and ask them why £900 million of our money is being given to these management companies to "cover strike losses" and pay treble my daily wage along with 5 star hotels and parties for strikebreakers.

I am City worker and I might be <1% of people in my industry (finance) supporting you. Unfortunately you are fighting a losing battle brother, or to be more brutal the working class lost it in this country a century ago, because of its ineptitude and divisions. And good luck with Starmer, if you think he is going to be your saviour.
Only political person/idea that was prepared to do something about all the problems people are striking about right now were Corbyn and McDonell and we all know how they fared, particularly by so called British working class, many of those r/w workers. Good luck anyway in achieving what you are striking against!

I don't trust Starmer as far as I could throw him. I've compared him to Trudeau in the past.

Reps have been called to a national meeting next week. I fear the end game is here and it won't be to our benefit either.
