Do you support the RMT?

At today's branch meeting it was disclosed that the DFT will allow trains to run with no disabled toilet facilities for up to two weeks.

We used to have to take the train out of service asap.
That is fucking shocking.

Do they expect disabled people to just soil themselves?

What has been offered?

I heard a Lynch slagging from a Transport Minister on the radio, saying that a decent offer is on the table but Lynch is hiding it from the members.

Seems that way.

I personally delay trains at stations with toilet facilities. However, it's difficult on some routes because there may only be one or two manned stations on a 2 hour route.

It's a year ago yesterday when we started striking. Lynch was on LBC yesterday. Above is the full programme hosted by rabid Tory Ferrari for people to decide their own views. Personally I think Mick played it with a straight bat. Especially the "RMT member" plant.

He's not hiding it from the members. Mick and our elected officers have been holding national meetings all over the UK to discuss it. Along with regular meetings with reps.

The government want to remove thousands of jobs and change job roles/ contracts for the worse. As well as removing collective bargaining rights from unions.

The last offer was 5% for 2021. Then 4% for for 2022 as long as unions agreed to all the DFT changes at local level.

The members were receptive to accepting when they were assured the 5% was no strings. When RMT went back to the RDG they were told the 5% would now be conditional and we'd have to agree to end the dispute and agree not to ballot members should talks at local level break down. Which they will as each TOC has different terms and conditions.

For example, in my role we have what we call spare turns where were given a set time to book on but can be given 48 hours notice to move times 2 and a half hours each way. Another toc has 10 hour movement either way. You can probably guess which version the DFT prefers.

They also put a caveat in the deal that current contractual terms will not be affected and any changes would be for new starters*.

The asterisk in that was they could fire(make redundant)/rehire staff on old contracts when the new roles have been agreed.
