Do you support the RMT?

I know quite a few guys who work on the railways and even they don’t understand the thinking behind these ridiculously cheap tickets.

I know they’ve done away with selling cheap tickets at the stations. Which is probably against discriminatory laws but at least you can understand the reasoning behind it. Every fucker will be driven away from the station’s ticket point and they’ll use that as justification to shut them all, like they have on London Underground.

But they can’t be making money on £2 tickets, so why they think that is a good business move I wouldn’t know.
Because it's a loss leader, and they can withdraw them once all the ticket offices have closed?

LNER booking office staff have been notified "unofficially" they are being displaced.

Seems the Tories don't want to talk anymore. Just do what they feel like.

The cover of Thames Water going under will bury the story.

The RMT AGM is currently taking place. I expect Mick will make a statement to the media and members from there in the next 48 hours.

Great program by Ben Elton on Ch4 last night about how much it’s costing the tax payer to run the railways, get it back into our hands and fuck these private companies off it’s a joke.

Watched it on catch up this morning. For someone who worked in the industry from just before privatisation up to 2 years ago, it articulated very well what I'd observed over that time. However, it was still quite horrifying to watch Ben's realisation of what we already knew. "Managed decline" was the phrase that stuck with me.

Don't see the problem with closing ticket offices to be honest. Tickets can be bought online or at the machines in the station. Plenty of stations already don't have a ticket office and seem to function without problem.

I haven't been in a ticket office for years though, so maybe I'm missing something.

LNER plan to close all their booking offices by the end of summer. Passengers will be expected to buy tickets online or through their app.

They are breaking collective bargaining agreements. As they are run by the Government they don't seem to give a fuck.

More strike dates coming and possible legal challenges about abrogation of collective bargaining.

RMT AGM just been notified.
