I've still not worked out what tickets they were in the original screenshot. Why no second class off peak day return? That seemed odd for a start.

This government said years ago that all TOCs should do split fare pricing but it's never happened. Better still is to have fares that don't need a split to be cheaper.

I used to do it in trainspotting days to the east coast main line. The hard way. No day return from London Road to Retford so Day Return to Sheffield Victoria then leg it to the booking office for a Day Return to Retford.
