Is this one of the best feelings ever?

Knowing you've got away without paying.

Hello Liam,

This is Mixu Paatelainen here from first travel network trains, first of all i was shocked to see this post on here, and due to this post we will be looking into your recent 'dodge' and we will be prosecuting you on behalf of you shooting yourself in the foot with this post and giving yourself away,

your IP address has been recorded and we will track you down and be in touch very soon, don't even think about hiding under your bed when you hear a knock at the door, thanks for your co-operation in this matter.

regards

Mixu.

This was the main stay of getting to away matches in the 80's. There was a certain art in jibbing and not getting caught by the hector...sorry, operator! :-)
this lad has got it spot on,my furthest trip was all the way to pompey and back, top jib,its a pity we werent in europe in the early 80s that wud ave been fun, there was also the family rail card worked out at £4 each to euston,or you could buy train tickets from the local travel agents,we knewthe girl who worked in ours and kept gettin kids tickets up untill we was 19-20,but if you was skint its was da old jib.what fun days!!!!

Happy days jibbed manc to calais in late 70s with a series of plausible half truths ! It was fun but going by the pet shop woman yesterday on a tag in trafford for selling a goldfish to an underage child Id be afraid to even jib the tram now !!!!!

I'm with you Liam. It's a top feeling, a small victory against 'the maaan'.

I spent my late teens and early 20s jibbing trains all over the country following City. It was the only way I could get there. 6 of us on a "Family Railcard" paying a quid each to go down to London or wherever. That's the most BR ever got out of me. Well done lad!

No one here actually thinks jibbing is wrong. Well done all, especially Barry Conlon for his use of the word "hectors", that takes me back. The 80s were the golden age of jibbing.

Jibbers of the world unite!

used to jib the trains also.pay a quid on a family railcard on the midnight down to London etc, great feeling walking off that platform especially when you had robbed the bar as well.Remember getting caught at Euston getting off the midnight train en route to Reading festival to see New Order 89ish.3 of us.we kept saying 'we got on at Bletchley mate' which was the last stop before Euston. The hector said tell us you got on at Mcr and i'll let you walk through. My mate, the rag twat said 'we got on at Mcr'.The thick ****.Right your all nicked said the hector.Thick twats utd fans!

Spent many a happy day dodging fares throughout Europe. The night train (with me car on as well) to Nice was a good one.

I came back from Greece once and jumped on the Manc train at Euston without a ticket. I got all the way to Piccadilly before being asked for a ticket and came out with the 'i just got on at Stockport' routine. Not very plausible as i was wearing shorts and sandals, carrying a big rucksack and a guitar and sporting a lovely golden tan in the middle of October.

happy days indeed

The student railcard was a god-send. Still got a picture of mine from being 17 sporting a top wedge! Still travelled to europe though on the 'Persil vouchers' for a bit of continental shopping. For our younger viewers persil washing powder did a promo for a 2for1 if you were travelling abroad. Worked out once about £12 each for a trip to Paris to watch England play France.
Back to jibbing here and a 2p platform ticket was the way past the Hectors and then onto the train. The tube was a doddle in those days for jibbing as well and can never recall ever paying.

Not condoning it now but that's how we followed the blues on a budget of sweet FA in thos days.
