We have come a long way

IIRC when the North Stand was built with a ticket office incorporated into it the souvenir shop took over the old TO that you can see in the background of the top picture. The second pic is the interior of that "new" shop as I remember it from the 70s/80s. As said, Janice was a lovely woman, nothing was too much trouble for her if you had a query about an item.

Was the one on the corner a butcher's in the 60s,also Oakie do you remember the programme shop on Lloyd street in the 60s.
Yes we used to shop regularly in the Programme Shop and that is where I bought my first ever City top,the old red and black striped one.Not certain about the old butchers shop but the one I`m on about was definitely an end corner house that had been turned into what I remember as the first City souvenir shop and was opposite the old Social Club, but it appears that no-one seems to remember it.

Wasn't it this building which became a chippy in the 90s? (this pic is from after Maine Rd was demolished but this is opposite the old Social Club.) As I recall it most of the souvenirs were on the upper floor.

Yes thats the one.Well done lancs and that place certainly brings back some very happy memories from the mid 60`s onwards. The City shop not the chippy. The finest Chippie around there was the one opposite the large pub with the revolving doors ... bloody hell the old grey matters going as I can`t think of its name but had many a few pints in there.
