Does anyone still buy a tv license?

I use my internet which runs and owns it's infrastructure (virgin), 100% of my digital media is piped down my internet to you see. I have not tuned in to motd for at least 2 years and before that it was about 8-10 years ago i last watched Top Gear (lost interest, became stale). I never use bbc radio stations or watch any shows they are even partners in. I barely use the news website now due to it's fact checking policy leaving it often lagging behind other sources who nearly all have it right anyway and of course sooner. Not been on iplayer for 2 years either and bought the planet earth 2 bluray for a family members birthday. so the only stuff i have used in any way i paid fair and square for

If i used it to any genuine extent besides 10-20 clicks around the news pages per week i would be ok with however i don't.

I would be perfectly happy with them locking me out of their intellectual property should they ever use such a system.

Yes I do, my household pays for it's license fee though
What I'm saying is if I didn't use their services I'm not sure why I should have to pay them for it because I chose to watch other live television programming

Maybe there should be an option to opt out of the 40p a day. I bet most would not though.

It's the lack of choice tho, if you had the option of not paying and being unable to watch/listen any BBC broadcasts that would be ideal, how it could be implemented I do not know. the license is a similar amount to a skysports subscription or the movie package, but you get the choice, pay and watch or don't pay and don't watch. (Not counting streaming or kodi boxes here) I'd rather watch adverts than pay an enforced fee, or at least have the option to opt out and not watch. I think it's worth the fee and would pay it and enjoy the BBC service, but I'd like the choice

You'd just hack into it ;)

But your a bit strange and in a tiny minority ;-) Would you not be happy to continue to pay your 40p a day as an altruistic gesture to all those family and friends who just want to turn on their tv to watch Auntie.

lol, probably yeah i don't like being told i must pay it though it is not a nice feeling when you feel imposed upon by authority. If it was a choice, or an option i probably would not bat an eyelid when it got taken from my bank. I would accept it as a kind of Englishness tax hehe, i don't like seeing articles in saying how x person has been taken to court over it either. Life is hard and pennies are being squeezed hard with the rising cost of living with stagnating pay levels. I can afford it and my stance is largely principle based but many are really struggling and it is not going to get easier for them any time soon.

I feel the BBC are approaching the situation wrong creating an us v them mentality with 'them' being part of 'the system'. Put it this way if V for Vendetta ever comes to reality (it is going that way) and i get a package with a mask and cape, damn right i'll put it on :-D

I think your point about imposition and authority is the crux rather than those unable to afford it.

its simple realy, no capita sales person would ever be let into my house to inspect my equipment, i am not obliged to let them in or even talk to them after all would you let the milkman in to see where you store his milk, they can knock and bang on the door until the birds start singing but i'l remain in my chair laughing at them, i do watch live TV and admit to that however i dont want to watch the BBC so unless they stop piping it down cables to me i will continue to break the law to access other channels. over £800 pounds saved to date and i'm very proud of myself
