Does the captains role mean anything now?

Vinny, Zaba and Yaya are all captains in every sense of the word.

Joe, Kolarov, Dinho could also captain the side as could Silva.

It's easier to name the ones who couldn't be captain which is a mark of what a fantastic team we have.

Only people in England or who watch English football attach so much importance to the captain's role. Elsewhere it's more of a senior player thing.

I've never saw the point of it really and think mainly it's for people whose best advice is "run around more" and "shout at him".

Delph was captain at villa but i hope it's joe

Was he? I thought it was Zabaleta. Either way, Zabaleta's intervention to take the ball off of Sterling and give it to Kelechi was a great example of the value of leadership/captaincy.

To me it's a question of leadership and I don't think we are overblessed. When Vinny, Zab and Hart aren't playing I think that lack of leadership shows. No matter how good a player Yaya is, he certainly isn't a leader. We have a couple of potentials in the side. I don't think Kolarov stands out either, with the Spurs game being a good example of where he didn't show much leadership. We really do need to be focusing on the next leader of this team post Vinny, as it will be crucial.
