Dog Walking with Bernardo - Intimate interview | Video

"We try to take him out but he hates it"
"No, no, he loves it"
"He loves it when it's warm, but right now it's a bit..."

IT'S THE FUCKING DOG! The dog is the one who wants to move somewhere warmer!

Need to get him another dog....

Interesting to hear a players talk about his view on the referees over here and how he likes the way they manage the game.
I did wonder if he was actually having a sly dig when he said the way referees "control" a game?

To my mind it's not the refs job to "control" a game, that implies the referee can have an undue influence on the result rather than just being an impartial arbiter of the rules and laws.

Such a likeable person. He's on Zabaleta levels.

Don't get me wrong, he's an incredible player (arguable top 5 in the world right now), but the amount of graft and hard work in his game is what we love. It show's what attitude can do for a person's career.

I think he was being sincere and it would have been a strange juncture in the interview to have a dig.

Its semantics with the word control. Arguably he could have used ‘manage’ but I still think control is often used as a word to describe an arbiter of rules/laws.

We have six or seven who are clearly bloody smart on and off the pitch. (Bernie, Kev, Gundo....
We have a few who are super intelligent on the pitch but don't necessarily demonstrate intelligence off it. They may be Einstein's but its just more difficult to tell (Phil, Cancelo, John....)
We have a right back who is a wonderful physical beast of a player but is a little short of Mips bless him.

Its difficult to judge us against other teams as I tend not to listen much to their players. Of our immediate rivals, Mount seems on the ball on and off the pitch as does Juan Mata.
I don't see what the relevance of a player's intelligence is, to be honest. I actually think it's quite unfair to talk about it like that too.

We all know people who are super academic, but have no common sense and vice-versa. Being academic isn't the only form of intelligence. Someone who's ended up on £150k a week like Kyle Walker could argue he's more intelligent than all of us who haven't been able to devise a way to earn that much money.

I also think we have a pre-conception of intelligence that we project onto individuals without ACTUALLY knowing them. Everyone used to bang on that Yaya was thick when in reality he's a polyglot (language learning is quite a standard metric to measure academic ability) and was probably the most intelligent player in the team at the time.

Just watched that video. Bernie does seem to be in a better place than he was in the height of the lockdown. Having his lady with him can only help. If you're happy in your personal life, it can only help in your working life. Plus, maybe, being able to nip back to Portugal for a couple of days every now and again, and see his family. We have to do anything in our power to try to get him to stay. The weather might be a bit tricky, mind. Not sure how many days, like the one when we played the hammers, that they get in Lisbon. And, of course, the omnipresent rain!

I agree it's probably just wishful thinking on my part that he was having a sly dig at refs with the nuances of the English language... although it does seem a bit odd that his only reference to English football in general during the interview was to make a remark about the refs rather than talking about any other aspect of he game.

I know some people like to live next to the cafe culture in cities but Bernado should move somewhere where there is a good private garden, I can't imagine being that wealthy and living in a concrete jungle.

Great video though, what a great couple they are.

I think Pep alluded to in one of his more recent interviews when asked about Bernardo's future is he's a special individual both on & off the field. Probably suggests he's not your average football player in terms of what makes him happy & has other interests which don't fall into the same simpleton footballer bucket.

Great to see this video with the whole family in tow & possibly looks like his gf is settling into the relationship with Bernie. Nice insight to see his manlove with Riyad which I didn't expect & maybe a welcome distraction after the Mendy drama.

Unfortunately, I do see him moving away at some point to sunnier climates as his personality suggests there's more to life than football, even if we were to make him the best paid player in Manc land. Hopefully, his departure will be a long, way away as he's a firm City fan favourite & we should show our appreciation of his efforts week, in week out even if he's on the bench. Just enjoy him City folk for as long as we can.

Perhaps it's just me, but I thought every time his partner spoke, Bernie seemed to cut across her. Perhaps it's a Latin thing (or perhaps it never happened). Pity he wasn't asked outright if he's got over his earlier doubts, we would all like some certainty.

Also interesting how they cut it in the intro so that after he said "I like how the referees control the game", his mrs says "he's a joker isn't he" (or something along those lines)

Only realised he wasn't taking the piss after watch the whole thing and realising they were 2 separate clips

Maybe a new song for him will convince him to stay.
Has to be something in this.
