Yes but rules aren’t really rules for some people. It’s all a matter of interpretation. We already know Cummings has a blank cheque to just obey the rules he deems appropriate. This presumably doesn’t fall into that category.

Yes. I realised this a week ago. The objection seems to be that normal rules are pretty much applying, and that he's not being held to higher standards by virtue of his position?

It would be nice if everyone ignored this story and carried on, but there’s no shortage of people that are using it as a pretext to only follow rules that they want to. There’s little the government can do about that except sack Cummings to demonstrate that it’s not acceptable. I would hope that most people can see that and even if they are prepared to forget about it themselves, they should realise there’s a bigger picture that potentially affects everyone.
