Well, there are quite a few people who haven't been able to go out due to the rules, real personal stuff like not being able to drive to go see family.
I think it has made people a little miffed.

I understand that but I know a million people who have broken the rules, myself included.

Cummings has been a divisive and dodgy figure politically but that's the only real reason why anyone even cares. It just seems it has been a great opportunity for the media to jump on a figure they'd love to get dirt on.... But that's for political reasons.

I think I'll sleep easy either way tonight anyway.

I am genuinely worried about the rise of populism but our political system is in crisis. The political system does not deliver for most people in this country. It needs to be overhauled to reflect the needs of ordinary people, not those in the Westminster bubble. If we don't change we will end up in a similar state to the USA.
We need more people with courageous independent thought but most MPs follow the route of tribal party politics to further their careers and that's why I don't respect them.

Fair enough.

The bloke in charge in the US made his campaign with phrases like "drain the swamp", "mainstream media", "for the people" etc.

Surely you can see the same pattern?

I agree 100 per cent. The centre ground seems to have vanished. It has been replaced by propaganda from both sides and the media is a huge part of the problem. I think a lot is fuelled by hatred on social media which is heavily used by journalists and politicians. The last time I looked at the stats 90 per cent of the UK population didn't engage on Twitter and yet so much political debate is driven by it. The country has become a very toxic place.
There are some decent MPs and journalists but they have been drowned out. It's the same on this forum these days unfortunately.

I'd imagine right wingers will be pretty moist at the retarded way people are pursuing Cummings and fiddling while Rome burns. If this can be kept going for another month then the covid shortcomings and the deadline for extending brexit may pass unnoticed....
