Dominic Cummings

Quoting myself here but it seems to me thatbthis is the only question that should have been put to him.

If he can answer it with a credible answer. Case closed.

If he can't. No defence of his actions.

Did he give an answer to what made his child more at risk than other children that made it exceptional circumstances ? Anyone spot it?

If he didn't, anyone want to take a stab at explaining it anyway?
Er how about both parents sick as a starting point. And it’s all about whether or not you think he did the right thing as a parent. I think he has bent the rules to the limit and not been the brightest but the witch-hunt is just ridiculous. Maybe the press should also go after most of my neighbours who have been doing whatever they want pretty much every day for 10 weeks. There wouldn’t even be a debate about their behaviour. More importantly looks like retail opening again in three weeks, surely that’s a more important story to cover. Infections reducing, as are deaths but let’s concentrate all our efforts on something that happened six to eight weeks ago that may or may not have breached guidelines

But would you go on a test drive ( to check you could actually drive when you are suffering from sight problems) and then take your Wife and Child too, who, if your sight was that bad, could have been killed due to your reckless driving ?
The very Child you profess to be so worried about previously.
The drive to Durham due to the worry of caring for a Child should annoy me but i sort of understand, the test drive with my Child whilst i'm having sight issues does annoy me because it's bullshit

At no point have I defended that part of the story. Just go check my posts on the last few pages. This discussion is about relocating for the welfare of the child.

Is there anything to suggest that either Cummings or his wife were in a particularly high risk group if they got the virus? I may have missed it but were either of them confirmed to have had the virus, he hasn’t described classic symptoms. Being so close to the scientific advice he would have a good idea of what the real threat to him and his family was. There must be thousands of people who have had the virus and muddled through without the need for drastic measures

I've got no response because I've explained my position and see no compelling argument as to why it's wrong.

If I was watching my colleagues go down with it one by one, then my wife calls me and says she's ill, and I'm pretty sure based on all the time I've spent with my now ill colleagues that I've probably got it too I would immediately think, right where is the best place I can put my kid so that if we do end up having to both go to hospital I have someone I trust looking after him?

If that was in a vacant property 4 hours away I would go.

So you are either suggesting that "the best place" for the thousands of other families that stayed put just happened to be in their home and Cummings is a bizarre geographical exception, with his best place being the other end of the country?

Or you are suggesting that those families that stayed put in their homes either settled for a place that is not the best, or possibly even a good, place, meaning that they are not parents that or as caring for their children as Cummings (or you, in your hypothetical situation)?

Which one?

Or could it be the obvious answer and that the thousands who chose the non-Cummings option knew that there wasn't justification - statistically or morally (in relation to supporting the lockdown) for choosing the Cummings option.

He should have risked having the kid taken into care in London surely ?

Most right minded parents, in a panic, would do exactly what he did, whatever the rules were imho.

Has he fucked up other aspects of it ? Yes probably, but not that bit.
