Dominic Cummings

Does anyone believe he went up to his parents estate over 230 miles away to stop in a home on their land but had no interaction or meeting with them.

All bullshit and lies.

I thought you were by stating that you were fine with the logic - which seems to suggest that see merit in it and don't see it as flawed.

My mistake if you weren't.
I don't see it as Flawed. <i listened to his reasoning and based on my understanding of the rules thought it was fine.

I understand that but I know a million people who have broken the rules, myself included.

Cummings has been a divisive and dodgy figure politically but that's the only real reason why anyone even cares. It just seems it has been a great opportunity for the media to jump on a figure they'd love to get dirt on.... But that's for political reasons.

I think I'll sleep easy either way tonight anyway.

Think you are overlooking one key aspect, namely it’s being fucking hilarious. I mean this is the brains of the fucking Govt we are talking about here who thinks an eye test is strapping the loved ones into a car and Mr fucking Magoo’ing it all the way to a tourist spot on the wife’s birthday and then getting lost in the woods several times and all this during lockdown.

Fair enough.

The bloke in charge in the US made his campaign with phrases like "drain the swamp", "mainstream media", "for the people" etc.

Surely you can see the same pattern?

Political slogans are nothing new.

I don’t think it’s about that at all. I don’t even think the story is about Cummings as such any more, it’s that we now seemingly live in a state where opinion is more important than facts or the rule of law. Amazingly, there’s some conservative Mps that recognise that more than some of the public, who will ultimate suffer the consequences more from it.

It was a newsworthy story in the first place that has become even more newsworthy due to the response to it. Disregarding facts due to the perceived motivation of the people presenting them is a very slippery and worrying slope.

I agree. Perhaps the phrase "mainstream media" is a dangerous one. I am not even sure there is such a thing any more.

The more its dissected the less it stands up........I hope he is still in post for the next PMQ's in a fortnight - Starmer will pull Johnson apart -

Another clever cxnt bending the truth. He never said any of those things were exceptional.

Political slogans are nothing new.

Those particular ones. The ones that suggest that everyone in politics is bent and that someone else is needed to come in and 'drain the swamp'

They are not new but they are now more widely pushed and popularised.

And that is dangerous (in my opinion).

Every tinpot and non tinpot dodgy regime has pushed a version of the same rhetoric one way or another for centuries.

Now the internet does it for them.
