I've just noticed that the District of Columbia voted 92.8% for Clinton. Trump's going to feel wellcome there. They also voted in favour of a motion that they be granted Statehood. I'm sure Trump will be very supportive of that.

You've got that the wrong way around buddy.

Have I?

Seat - Labour - Tory
A ------- 10 ------- 0
B ------- 9 ------- 1
C ------- 8 ------- 2
D ------- 10 ------- 0
E ------- 4 ------- 6
F ------- 4 ------- 6
G ------- 3 ------- 7
H ------- 4 ------- 6
I ------- 3 ------- 7
Labour win the popular vote by 55 to 35 but the Tories win by 6 seats to 4. Very similar to the US except they have relatively few 'seats' that are weighted differently. Our seats in the UK are all weighted the same but they are designed to as fair as possible.

Isnt he saying that the Tories win more seats by a landslide than do Labour?

Yes but the Tories need a higher percentage of the vote than Labour to achieve the same result as a rule nationwide.

Your example is fine, it's just the wrong way around as I say and I'm not sure why you thought it was that way:

No. I'm saying the Tories need a much higher percentage of the vote to get a landslide than Labour. As an example in 2005, they had 3% more of the vote and received 356 seats compared with the Tories on 198.

The Tories would need at least 10% more of the vote to do the same.
