I grew up on a street that was all white. My parents still live there, all other properties on the street now have Muslims families; Egyptian, Iranian, Pakistani and Somalian. My parents welcomed each one and have continued given each other presents and cards at Christmas and Eid.
Skin colour and 'culture' is only a problem if you're so inclined to think it's a problem.
Oh mate, your parents mirror my mother!
She's one of the longest(if not THE longest) neighbour on the street. EVERYBODY knows her and she has seen families of all demographics come and go and new families grow from first borns to being parents. Her street is now 90% Asian populated, but she is known and loved and helped with shopping.
She is loved cos she took the time to know her neighbours.
