I grew up on a street that was all white. My parents still live there, all other properties on the street now have Muslims families; Egyptian, Iranian, Pakistani and Somalian. My parents welcomed each one and have continued given each other presents and cards at Christmas and Eid.

Skin colour and 'culture' is only a problem if you're so inclined to think it's a problem.

Oh mate, your parents mirror my mother!

She's one of the longest(if not THE longest) neighbour on the street. EVERYBODY knows her and she has seen families of all demographics come and go and new families grow from first borns to being parents. Her street is now 90% Asian populated, but she is known and loved and helped with shopping.

She is loved cos she took the time to know her neighbours.

You're right it is the same.

I'm on first name basis with everyone and love when they have parties because we get incredible homemade Asian food. My parents helped two of the families with clothes for their kids when they first arrived and those kids have gone off to University studying Medicine, Law and Accounting.

People need to see past skin colour and any cultural differences - unfortunately, taking this discussion back to the thread, Trump plays on the fears of those who can't.

You honestly believe that?

Six hundred thousand Londoners have left. They didn’t all sell ex-council houses in Barking, in order to purchase five-bedroom cliff-top villas in sunny Leigh-on-Sea.

I quote you this

"Discernment is required: nobody decent is arguing for a return to the homogeneity of Call the Midwife’s Poplar. Finally, politicians have admitted that to notice the scale of the immigration engineered by the last Labour government doesn’t make one racist. But neither is it wrong to discuss the cultural changes that large-scale immigration can cause."

Exactly. I don't see a colour before I see a person. If I have a neighbour that's being a knobhead he or she is a knobhead whatever the skin tone. I shouldn't feel the need to be worried about saying that, and neither should the person on the other side of the fence. I don't accept that our current opportunities in lfe are dictated by our skin colour. That's bollocks. To take that to task, every non-black person could be taking the knee because the NFL and NBA are absolutely dominated by non-whites. But guess what - not a murmur. Opportunity is there for everyone - it's what we make of it. Cops don't go on a day out looking to shoot a black kid - if you think that, I invite you to suggest that to my black police mates in the force. I wish you well, but I absolutely guarantee that you wouldn't last a minute with them - and rightly so.

It's great being good to your neighbours - we should all do that. Unfortunately you seem to be buying into the liberal left Trump racist bollocks. Open your mind - before you know it you'll be asking for 'safe spaces' in UK classrooms, Kim Jong will continue to take the piss out of the sensible world (which him and his cronies have done for the last 14 years). Believe me, Antifa are NOT and should not be your friend. Try not to base your opinions on whichever newspaper/media source/ twitter comment that happens to make the headliine news. I guarantee you'll be a better person for it. Watch what's going on, but please think for yourself and stop taking your news from sound bites. Remember how we got screwed into beliving the EEC wouldn't become the German EU? That was simply because of media sound-bites. Enough said.
