Looking from the outside, one of the main problems you have is your media.
Fox News is dire but CNN, NBC etc to me are just as bad. It seems that basically anything that is put out by those organisations are automatically dismissed, derided or totally ignored by the opposite sides.



I watched the above video put out the other day and couldn't believe the stupidity of NBC for doing it.
It's a 4min video which basically equates Gamers to Nazi's to Trump supporters and then vilifies a well used App used by millions each day for legit purposes. It also tries to connect something that happened in 2014 with the 2016 election.

What a way to go to piss off thousands of people. They've dragged a massive community into a fight they are probably not interested in, try to get them to chose sides, and then ostracise them because they don't immediately buy into the lefts dogma.
Is it any wonder that a lot of them will then turn round and stick 2 fingers up at them.

So I watched this. Your interpretation of it is thin-skinned at best, laughable at worst. It doesn't do anything like drag the "entire" gamer community into anything, nor does it "vilify" the app. It describes one place from which part of a fringe group emerged, and how that group was able to connect and build its voice.

The fact is, that is EXACTLY what he said. So either she didn't see the video, or she's knowingly telling a lie. Even if she'd said "that's not what he meant", it wouldn't have been any better. She is not fit to do that job. She just can't shovel his s**t quick enough.

Why's my interpretation thin-skinned & laughable?
I got that youtube vid linked to me via an American Discord server the other night and nearly everyone on the server was taking the piss out of it.

Just going off the Vid title 'How gamers are facilitating the rise of the Alt-Right' can you not see why? considering the whole way the vid is put together from the spooky music, the klan imagery and even the gaming clips used. It's purely pandering to the left's paranoia about some supposed 'bogeyman' within gaming and why Hilary lost.
A lot of gamers already have a lack of trust of mainstream media because of what previously happened with gamergate. 99% of gamers involved with it was due to a genuine concern regarding ethics within game journalism, but funnily the gaming media (and the mainstream media) only portrayed one side and that was purely about the abuse some feminists got within the gaming industry by a few absolute dickheads.

With the rise of bloggers, streamers & youtubers etc mainstream media is losing control of any narrative and hasn't got a clue what to do about it, so are lashing out in all directions. That youtube vid is seen as just a continued attack against a sub-culture they don't understand (or control), and it's pissing people off within gaming and making it so that they won't likely trust anything shown on NBC in the future.
What's worse is that people who normally couldn't give a shit about politics, and would normally sit on the fench and not get involved, are quite happy to side with Trump just to be able to shove 2 fingers at the likes of CNN & NBC.

18k downvotes against 200 upvotes on a youtube vid watched 58k times really takes some doing.

So until Hilary's side (supporters & media) try to understand & accept what's going on, they're making things worse and not doing themselves any favours. They would be better just ignoring it, or get better at memes :)

And your view that that a fringe group 'emerged' from discord; did these type of people not exist before discord ? do they not use other social media?

It's like if Sky constantly reported that Jesus Navas was world class and should be on the short list for the Ballon d'Or and another outlet said that they were wrong and that he's an average player at best. It's not like the other outlet is anti-Navas, they're just pro-facts.

This isn't a "reported fact", it was an actual FACT. It came directly from the mouth of the POTUS, on video and witnessed by countless people.

He said the words "what we have right now is a joke and it's a laughingstock".

This isn't an interpreted version of the truth or fake news; it is an irrefutable fact that Trump said this.

If the White House administration cannot get their heads round the difference between fact and fiction, we are all f**ked.

That youtube vid has had 58k views. A typical NBC vid will get say approx 2k views. The NBC vid covering the New York truck attack got 28k views.
So at the moment twice as many people are more interested in viewing somethng that tries to link gamergate, nazi's, discord & gamers, than the NY truck attack.
Also going off the upvote/downvote ratio it shows a vast majority aren't happy with it or think it's a load of BS and it wouldn't sutprise me if the vast majority were gamers.
It's either some of the best click bait around, or a totally dumb play by NBC.

I think that's also one of big mistakes made by Clinton's side. They considered anyone who wasn't with them as being against them, and then resort to petty name calling. This then leads to a total intolerance to anyone who's not with them (which usually then gets them lumped in with the 'Alt Right').

I heard on that discord server the other night someone say that more white females voted for Trump than voted for Hilary. If thats true then its pretty shocking.
