and your point is what ? thats not how the american system works and its true- look at the map, without the californian vote they would be no where near trump. obviously thats not the case, but the majority of american states voted for trump.

My point is that your point had absolutely no point.

not the best picture ( hopefully all correct swell) . but it shows how much support there was for trump. hilary only won the popular vote because of california and a few other big cities. overall though the democrats got destroyed. its besides the point anyway you dont win on the popular vote and if that was the case most of amercia would get ignored in favor of new york and california.

It's not just New York and California though, it's every major city. The smaller cities, towns and rural areas in general voted for Trump.

There's probably a few if you were to count first preference votes only but it would be rare enough with FPTP. It's more common with the 4 and 5 seater constituencies in the PR system where the final elected candidates get over the line on 3rd and 4th preference votes.

There will be one or two that were behind on first count to someone below the quota that they overtook on 2rd or 3rd preference votes. Not many though.

It's first past the post here. If Candidate A gets 12.002 votes, Candidate B gets 12,001 and Candidate C gets 12,000, Candidate A wins it.
