But he has done exactly what he has been accused of.

He has but it wont get him impeached.

Its an absolutely pointless and frankly bonkers process.

The American electorate dont seem to give enough of a fuck about it all in large enough numbers to want to get rid of him and to a majority it seems they just dont care or dont believe any of it.

It honestly feels that politics there and here now will be a never ending demand for justice through a court and a refusal to accept a democratic vote and result.

If he is that much a **** and the Democrats are that sure they are the party to govern then they should get the job done at the election next year because all of this is for nought as far as i can see from reports.

If he gets removed he won't be replaced by a Democrat president. It will be Pence.

He was impeached because he clearly broke the law, and any impartial assessment of the facts would support this view.

It's dangerous to ignore the rule of law for political reasons, even if he his almost certain acquittal by the senate will fall into this category.

Nunes is currently speaking.

I think he actually believes the bollocks he's talking.
Nunes knows he's spouting bullsh*t, but he's part of this whole crooked Ukraine scanadal, so it's in his personal interest to keep the POTUS in office by doing and saying anything.

If Trump is ousted, there will be an avalanche, and all the corrupt GOP Senators who sold their souls to Trump will be falling over each other to save themselves.

He has been impeached. He hasn't been removed from office, and that is very unlikely given that the only other presidents to be impeached (Andrew Johnson and Bill Clinton) were not removed from office.

There has never been a more clear cut case of obstruction of justice. If this were a private citizen in a regular court case, this would be the moment the defence council would be pleading with the judge for clemency.

Yet Republican Senators are likely to vote along party lines, having withheld vast amounts of documentary evidence, and blocked witness testimony at every turn. Republican Senators know exactly what is in those documents, and what those witnesses would be compelled to say under oath, but they flatly refuse to allow it to be heard. This is akin to the defence lawyers in a criminal trial burying evidence that may overwhelmingly implicate their client in the crime of which they are accused.

Unfortunately if you turn this 180 my guess is democrats would rally behind their POTUS and you would hear the exact same arguments, see the exact same obstruction and we would see the exact same outcome.

The electorate will decide who is the POTUS next year and if he wins again, the one guarantee that their system has is he wont get another go there after.

Processes like this whilst sounding damning and the end of the road are seemingly anything but.

Trump has been impeached. The Senate can refuse to remove him from office but Trump remains impeached. Trump was impeached under the provisions set out under the constitution not a court of law, just as Trump was elected under the rules of the electoral college despite receiving fewer votes than his opponent. Democrats were able to successfully impeach because they won the house in an election. I mention this last point because you seem fond of mentioning things should be done via elections and voting.

I would like to think that they would carry out their Constitutional duty and take the evidence at face value. In the impeachment of Clinton, some Dem's voted to remove him. Dem's also released all evidence requested by Republicans as the law requires. There were certainly not the levels of obfuscation participated in by Republicans in Trump's impeachment.

Imagine here that all the evidence was available (transcripts, documents, witness testimony). Given the tables turned and all the evidence available I don't think many Dems would be able to vote against impeachment as it is pretty blatant as to what Trump did and who knew about it.

No, nothing wrong with me, I know it hurts that not everyone follows your beliefs avidly, but I suggest you get
used to it. You're implying that I support Trump, to me he comes across as a blustering loudmouth, yet I have also seen him
produce a strong economy,
and the ethnic minorities enjoying more employment than ever, people may argue this, fine,
I am merely saying, at present I'm ambivalent.
Obama's economic gains, that if anything Trump has put the breaks on.

While some have shit for brains assuredly, I suspect most have calculated that the negative consequences of their illogic, hypocrisy, amorality, idol worship, gaslighting and outright lying are minimal or pushed out into their future "legacy", which they can always disavow as "mistakes" later, whereas the negative consequences of voting as the evidence and conscience dictates means a loss of their way of life and the power that comes with it that will very likely show up at the ballot box. Then where is someone like Gaetz going to go?

As for voters, it's different -- as I've noted a bunch of times, this is all about getting revenge on the those they believe are responsible for their lot in life. The more angry you make "the other side", the better you feel. Always been about "owning the libs." Check out the increasing threats of "civil war" some of them spout if Trump is impeached, their threats to bring their .357 magnums into the street. All logic has left them. Would they really start murdering strangers if their hero was cast aside? Of course not. They'll move on to Trump 2.0, whomever that is. But whomever that is, he/she won't have the drawing power Trump did. And "the other side" is much wiser to ballot box complacency than it was in 2016.

Listening to the Mooch this morning not something I usely do but he made a lot of sense in that history tells us that with Demigods there is always this hysteria of what will happen if when he gets removed. The reality being a few isolated freaks will loose there shit and it will all blow over very quickly.

He also alluded to the fact that if couple of moderate big hitters like Mitch Romney turned they could see a simple vote of forcing the Republicans to turn over the likes of Bolton to the witness stand this would be a game changer. He isn't going to be impeached in the Senate because of the numbers. But critical evidence from Trump's inner circle would give the Republicans no option because they know it would destroy them politically.
