These aren't Senators, they're Representatives in the House. Democrats have a majority there so they can hold him accountable, the Senate has washed their hands of this and have moved on to more important matters like trying to get more rapists on the Supreme Court and figuring out a way to not have billionaires pay any taxes at all.

When you have a group of morons who are concentrated in a congressional district it's no surprise that you end up with a knuckle-dragger in congress. The scary thing is when you have a whole state full of morons that elect jerkoffs like Ted Cruz, Mitch McConnell, Rick Scott and all of the other red staters.

It’s damning that the republicans would rather protect having a republican in power than determine whether the person in power is fit for the role and is in the best interest of the United States.

Republicans aren't protecting a fellow Republican, they are protecting Trump.

They are protecting Trump because he is wildly (irrationally in my view, but wildly) popular among their base. He's their cult leader. So they know if they don't protect him (by, say, asking Cohen actual questions and actually probing the allegations), they risk (a) getting hammered by an insane 4 AM bathroom tweet from Trump, as he is happy to criticize Republicans who do not offer unimpeded loyalty and belief in him, and (b) getting primaried by a rabid Trump upstart Republican the next time they're up for election.

It's not really about about Republicans and Democrats.

It's about a CULT LEADER and his devoted acolytes who owe their JOBS AND VERY EXISTENCE TO HIM and are scared shitless to cross him at the risk of losing the support of the cult members that got them elected.
