Donald Trump

Of course nothing’s changed. He’s not president yet. But even when he is we still have no choice other than to wait and see, and however stupid it gets we still won’t be able to do anything about it. Hopefully the government are putting together contingency plans with allies to mitigate any consequences that may impact us.
Goes to show how never ending it is though, do you think? They get elected President and have realistically 2.5 years of 4 to do anything then all the nonsense of seeking re-election starts again. Kennedy was shot doing a re-election drama a year before the election only 1000 days after getting the bloody job. They lose the election and have almost 4 months of inactivity or transition working. Must be exhausting there. Congress elections and mid terms each 2 years. Senate elections are 6 I think anyway but designed to fit around it. How can a functional govt be run in that system? And thats before the politicians are allowed to appoint judges. And the district attorneys run for election too, so are politicised. It must be draining. No wonder they vote for a bloke off the telly and hope it sorts itselfs out no matter the consequences they must just want some consistency.

It’s too bad we don’t have a king. :)

No system is perfect. We for example can’t understand votes of no confidence or random calls for elections at irregular intervals.

I have always liked the six year idea for the Presidency and House terms of four instead of two, for the record. In fact the two year terms for the House have enormous incumbency advantages given brand recognition and fund-raising head starts.

You do have a King

And true to form, Trump has chosen an oil industry leader as Energy Secretary, a man who believes there’s no climate crisis and wants to increase electricity consumption with more use of fossil fuels.
Getting too predictable these ludicrous appointments.
