Donald Trump

It’s not like the American people weren’t warned.
Sadly they need to lose their health and wealth before they will take any notice, which is pretty much nailed on if his insane policies get implemented.
With congress and the judiciary now in his pocket, the chances of a free and fair election in 2028 to get rid of the **** or his nominated successor will be hugely diminished.

No. Win an election. I think they were worried they couldn't beat him in an election. It seems they were right.
???
You have me scratching my head with that response Dax. Honestly don’t know where you’re going with that.

I don’t think the prophet ‘Frank’ envisaged completely the scenario enfolding by any means, but from afar it does seem to me he has been remarkably accurate.

Whether it is allowed come to fruition is down to the American public, when it comes to any elections, local or national.

Just be careful what you wish for. It does seem far more credible now, that particular option of deciding could be removed before the next 4 years are up.
I know you’ll say you don’t agree, however whatever your reasons why, I’d be praying to the prophet ‘Frank’ if I was American.

Just announced 25% trade tariffs with……..
Mexico and Canada!
A trade deal, he signed in his first term, he’s blowing up on the first day of his next one.
Surely Starmer has got to get back into the single market asap?
What a fucking abortion. I think lots of people who voted for Brexit assumed we’d be able to rely upon the US for economic support in a way that seems inconceivable now.

On the one hand no-one could have predicted in June 2016 how things would develop in the States, but equally if you make reckless choices then there are usually consequences that flow from that in ways you cannot predict at the time you make them.

Our relationship with the US will need to be completely recalibrated, I’m afraid. It’s very sad, but they’ve made their choice and we need to look after ourselves.

There are around 161 million voters registered to vote in the last election, and probably 1/10th of them regularly watch cable news. The majority of those viewers watch Fox, and were fed absolute lies, garbage, half-truths and extreme right-wing propaganda in the lead up to the election. The left leaning media, predominantly MSNBC were trying to warn people (Maddow, Nicole Wallace, Chris Hayes, Lawrence O'Donnel, etc.), but even some of their other presenters reporting was pathetically 'both sides' horseshit at times. Then you have the online echo chambers, controlled by megalomaniac billionaires, and a whole host of other rich folk with a vested interest in shit-stirring. As a whole, they actually weren't warned, and that's been evident in some of the conversations I've had with people post-election.

In 1783, colonial America ousted the British because they didn't want to be ruled by a king. In 2024 they essentially blew off their precious Constitution that they all swear allegiance to and voted in a king. I'd argue that despite the access we have to news and information we have at our fingertips today, the people of 1783 were better informed than the people of today.

I proudly disagree with this statement. Irrespective of the news coverage, any rational person only had to take a look at the mad **** who was running for office, listen to the unadulterated shite that came out of his mouth, along with his manifest grifting that any person with any sense of street-smart should be able to spot a mile off, irrespective of their educational qualifications, to form the view that he was plainly unfit for office.

The warning signs were there, in plain sight, for anyone to see.

Those that sagely nodded along with his mad ramblings and continue to mop up his bullshit are soundly brainwashed.

Can’t help think it’s a product of very poor public education which has been implemented at lightening speed, on both sides of the Atlantic. Likely to have been an accidental policy do to poor funding for a good few years but hugely accelerated by twitter, Facebook and the like.
Now we’ve got an unofficial arm of the US government controlling one of the most unregulated, conspiracy fuelled sites, it’s unlikely to improve any time soon, sadly.
A revolution driven by tech companies and owned by tech companies spells disaster.

I suppose what the liberals, for want of a better world, fail to understand is how this stuff gains traction. They don’t only control the means of communication but they’re hugely skilled at messaging (many Americans didn’t seem to realise that Obamacare, which they had and wanted, was the same as ‘affordable care’ which they seem to have voted against!!

If Starmer and the Labour Party keep parroting and following Tory policies, Garage will have every chance in 2029…
