I don’t doubt that, hence my qualification around rationality. Either you try to understand that way of thinking, or you shrug your shoulders because you don’t want to.

To me, having been to the States on numerous occasions (although not for half a decade tbf) this doesn’t accord with my lived experience but they were faced with a choice and they’ve made it, despite, as I say, the evidence having been there for all to see.

I’ll pop in here from time to time, and make the odd comment, but I’ve made a decision to emotionally uncouple from the situation, as, quite frankly, there’s fuck all I can do about it.

It’s very sad, because America has given (and taken) a lot from the world, but they’ve made an utterly selfish and bizarre decision that is going to end in tears.
