As said this one is a nothing burger and most likely wouldn’t cost him a single vote - the Jan 6th and Classified Documents trials are the one that have the possibility of costing him a lot of votes, but they likely won’t be completed before the election.Bloody hell

Would it ever. This is the stormy D case. Cohen pled guilty and was sentenced to 3 years back in 2019. I think he served some in prison but most at home, it was during covid. Trump might have a defence in claiming he had no knowledge and it was all Cohen but then it's a jury trial and Cohen will testify against him. And we will have to see what other evidence there is.
Plenty of time to get this done and get him locked up. It would be very fitting if the stormy D case was the one that got him.
This is my view as well. They are almost a parody of a functioning systemCan I just say an America which attracts a shoot out to the Champions open bus parade and which has a prospective President that could be jailed and still be Pres. is lost. Better the world just cuts off all ties send their Ambassadors home and leaves them to commit suicide or at least until they come to their senses and realise that the world does not revolve around them and their psychodrama
Not correct Re Cohen. There is a good logic behind it, though. It's to prevent political prisoners from being disqualified from running or holding office. If such an exception existed then it might be easy for corrupt governments to slap their rivals with phony convictions to stop them running. As has been discussed on this thread, this has actually happened in the US before - a prominent socialist was jailed for speech protesting the US entering WWII. He ran for president from his cell and got over a million votes. He was later granted pardon.
I agree with lassel on this one, I'm not convinced a conviction in this case makes a huge difference unless he happens to get a severe sentence that sees him under some kind of house arrest (though Cohen got 3 years in a jail for the exact same crime - so if there were any equity he would get the same). In all likelihood the upside of this case is that it will drain his funds and his time so his campaigning is disrupted.
Many knowledgeable pundits think that the Jan 6th case will conclude prior to election day. It largely hinges on what the Supreme Court decides and how quickly they act.As said this one is a nothing burger and most likely wouldn’t cost him a single vote - the Jan 6th and Classified Documents trials are the one that have the possibility of costing him a lot of votes, but they likely won’t be completed before the election.
Don't agree with that. I heard up to 4 years and and decision on probation would be up to the judge. So the jail threat is very real. Not correct Re Cohen.
Cohen was charged with lying to Congress.
The maximum for these charges is two years, probationable.
The above stormy D case is expected to be 6 weeks. So done by the end of May.Many knowledgeable pundits think that the Jan 6th case will conclude prior to election day. It largely hinges on what the Supreme Court decides and how quickly they act.
