Donald Trump

A few apparently reasonable nominations (okay, there's a billionaire pro-tariff guy to run the Treasury, and a Heritage wonk for another job, and a motivational speaker/ex-footballer to run Housing, but they're not actually corrupt as far as I can tell).

Then you hit the return of the odious Gorka - I'm sure he knows lots about counterterrorism; presumably 'deputy assistant to POTUS' means saying 'yes sir' to Agent Orange and going out to harangue people in the media.
He is way more experienced and prepared for Washington than he was the last time.

He is going to have his admin up and ready to go by January. Appointments are coming fast and furious.

That’s a BAD thing. What he learned is don’t appoint people who will challenge or contradict you. Appoint those who owe you and will be loyal. That’s not good under any circumstances at any organization no matter who’s running it. Not particular to Trump, and others have been guilty of it too. That said, there simply aren’t enough terrible people to fill out an entire cabinet/key role set so he’s had to choose some that have at least basic competence. The most important roles to me are Treasury and AG, and while AG was always going to be a hardened loyalist who’d protect him, it’s not Gaetz thankfully, and Bessent is at least reasonable (though he might not last long given his views on the deficit). If Trump would get off this stupid social agenda and focus on steering the economy thoughtfully, we might escape the next four years with limited damage or even some positives. Alas that’s unlikely.

That's the spirit :)

Compares english (spanish politicians)

1. Yolanda Díaz (Leftie).

2. Iván Espinosa (Right).

Who is speaking better english?

Some discussion about Kevin Warsh as Sec of Treasury and then potentially Fed chair after Powell's term ends. I have no idea how this generally thoughtful and reasonable guy will possibly deal with fucking Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey during cabinet meetings, but I am at least relieved and maybe even encouraged if Trump goes this direction.
Who appoints the Fed chair?

This is the type of nothing burger I'd expect to be written in crayon. Liberalism isn't a particularly idealistic worldview.

Neo liberalist economics is a more cynical and repugnant idealogy than traditional Conservative paternalist economics.
You have to distinguish the different meanings of ‘liberal’.(old vs modern).
Neo-Liberal economics uses the word in a completely different sense to, say,
Liberal social policies. The former means with minimal government oversight or interference, the latter may include maximum government participation.
The Guardian in the UK is/was considered a liberal newspaper. It opposed the foundation of the NHS because it considered it as government interference in personal health. You cannot imagine that happening today, yet it is still a liberal (modern sense) paper.

That's just good business surely? He's hardly going to want people who are going to obstruct and undermine him just to achieve a notion of balance. Four years is a pretty short time to achieve the things he claims he wants to do so it makes sense to put 'his people' in place where possible. Having said that your point about the amount of people needed is a good one - 10k appointments apparently to form a new govt so there will end up being a mix I'm sure.

With respect, yes, there are. Trouble is, Congress is apparently willing to go only so far - I think... maybe... or maybe not... who fucking knows. Congressmen are out for re-election - and that's their primary motive. End of.

Re Gaetz. It's not clear to me that the failed Gaetz nomination was down to pending investigations against him wrt sexual misconduct, so much as Gaetz is an asshole and basically no one in Congress - MAGA Republicans included - like him. In other words, I'm not at this point willing to credit Congress with a modicum of oversight whatsoever with respect to Trump's nominees. Fucking anything goes - so long as I (as a Congress-person), don't fucking hate with my entire soul, whomever is the nominee.

Trump is going to implement plan 2025. This is going to strip all government agencies of regulatory power.

Well, let's fucking hope that another novel virus outbreak doesn't occur in the next 4 years. Because guess what? Fucking JFK Jr. will hinder/prevent vaccination research and - depending on severity - millions - or indeed hundreds of millions in the USA might die. Those wishing to vaccinate, included - b/c - due to JFK Jr., there is no vaccine.

For me, HHS secretary is by far the most important - given that the wrong choice could basically kill X% of Americans - for X fill in whatever number from 0 to 100 that you want.

you sure about that?

Your current and previous HHS have killed. Millions by allowing the food & drugs industry to put whatever shite in food & allowed an opioid crisis . For example In the UK & EU McDonald's fries have 3 ingredients in the USA it has 17 !!! Orange Fanta has orange juice your version has none and is the colour of atomic piss , there are so many ingredients that are banned here that are considered cancer causing yet are allowed in the USA
