Don't Bang the Drum.

FFS everyone, Go to the Citizens thread and help get the atmosphere good.

You have to try before you can say you dislike something.

Get your arses down to that EDS game and sing your hearts out.

If its shit then we will not bother but there is a good chance it won't be.

Instead of constant criticism why don't you come up with some ideas of your own then?

The atmosphere at home is appalling and has been for years apart from odd high profile games..
Given the Fact we are in our best ever home run, is the atmosphere that important?

To me? yes. (clearly for some others too)
But solely for your wishes, not for the good of the club.

well if they want to be told what a great idea this is, they should go and ask Hugh Ferris or Garry Cook.

This is a forum and some things can only be said in one way.

I look forward to the new era this represents the dawning of. The spirit of the Maine road family stand is alive and well and taking over the Etihad this winter. The Citizens Movement is here. The future has arrived.

The revolution will not be televised, but it will have a tuba accompaniment and wear a pair of clown shoes and a half and half scarf.

Instead of constant criticism why don't you come up with some ideas of your own then?

Indeed. To some fans it clearly is but to the players does it really make much difference. When it is really needed in the big games it is good.

If fans want atmosphere then just go to all the away games where it is usually better.

Who really does have a decent atmosphere nowadays at Prem level? Stoke? Maybe but even that is diminishing and is shite when they are losing.

As I've said before, all seater stadium, Fletchers stewards and the PC world we currently live in means football atmosphere will never be the same again in this country. At the Dortmund game, a woman with her family near me got warned for standing up once too often when we were attacking and that just sums up where we are

This portrayal of those who want to create abetter atmosphere as trying to create some kind of pantomime show just really dont get it.

Nothing i saw from the dortmund fans was cabaret all i saw was a set of fervent fans determined to get behind and support their team.

So we should hold up the likes of Villa, the rags and Chelsea as a beacon of football support!? Ha thats a joke if ever ive heard one. The swamp is the most sterile, soulless ground ive ever had the misfortune to attend, and stamford bridge, well, they wouldnt know an atmosphere if it hit them.

This is a great initiative but their are many hurdles to overcome, not least the narrow mindedness of a portion of our support. That said i doubt anyone would moan if we could generate an atmosphere on the lines ofdortmund, posnan and aris.

This cultural thing is a misnomer, we can generate the same level of passion and support it just needs the will and like minded fans to get together.

Its not for everyone, fine, we are an inclusive club but dont knock fellow blues for simply wanting to create more atmosphere.
no, you're the one who really doesn't get it. The dortmund atmosphere was nothing to do with their drum or dancing. It was because 3000 of them bellowed their hearts out for 90 minutes non stop.

Just like city do on our euro aways, only with a lot less heart and soul. And I've never seen a drummer.

That's not true Dave.

The drummer/drumming is an integral part of their chants/chanting.

The Capo starts the chant, the fans follow, and the drummer......

Dortmund in Manchester.

Note your man with the megaphone and then.....

They even make the police stop so they can chant.(along with the drum)

Once again the drum is an integral part of their chants.

Spot the City fans. Lol!

Surely a march like this to OT this season isn't impossible if organized correctly.

The rest of the vids are here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tDimL_uB ... re=related

The problem/issue is, when football fans over here mention drums, Blackburn, Bolton and Wigan spring to mind. One beat every now and again throughout the game. And yes, that is f***ing s***!

A march to old Trafford? Will never happen mate.

The Guvnors have marched to old Trafford a good few times. 300 of them two years ago in the cup semi would have been the last time. But the police were all over them, splitting them up, disrupting their meet and corralling them into the ground. And they are old Skool lads who can handle themselves and aren't afraid of man united.

Youre living in a fantasy world if you think It will never ever happen with a bunch of normal fans, mate. In the extremely unlikely event the police don't destroy your meet, united's scrotes will think Christmas has come early...

I know Dave.

Saying that, if your average supporter tried it instead of the Guvnors, perhaps GMP would look on it more favourably and escort them to OT.

Sadly it won't ever happen. Nice thought though. :-)

Drums at Dormund endeed up grating nerves. It wasn't natural. They, obviously, were away We know away fans are louder nearly always.Guvnors gangs etc... what? ....... It's been done. Young blues (unlike me) keep the new ideas rolling. God bless yer new blue bellies! New thoughts wellcome. Good football for all!!

This isn't about violence, looking tough and so on...I did all that shit whilst fighting in the cage.

This is about backing the team positively.

If you're violent you will not be welcomed To The Citizens.

We do however have the right to defend ourselves and will use reasonable force if necessary.

Racism and any form of discrimination will not be tolerated.

Have a problem? come see me personally.

I am sure at Hyde Road a drum was used when City attacked, maybe Gary James can shed light on this?

Don't recall any mention of a drum but I do know that people took bugles and other instruments on to the terraces at Hyde Road in the 1890s (and sometimes wore fancy dress).

City fans were known back then for their 'electrifying' atmosphere (as it was described in the Athletic News).

Just to clarifi Ste.

Neither myself nor Dave(obviously he can clarifi the matter himself)where implying the Citizens were a Hooligan group. We fully understand your aims and goals. I'm sure the vast majority of BM posters are behind your efforts to improve the atmosphere at City .I certainly am, hence my PM.

However, it's not a very good start for you and the Citizens if you're issuing interweb threats already.

TBH I may come and see you. To offer you and the Citizens my support against Juve.

PS. Perhaps a Citizens code of conduct could be looked at in the future? Just a thought.

I know. Im not arsed what the rags think but I respect the fans of other clubs who will be pissing themselves at us right now.

Next they will be asking to get chants piped through the speakers... oh wait I still have to put up with shit from fans of other clubs for that one too

Good luck with this Ste, I,m sure it will work but we defo need to get away from different sections of the ground split by the away fans. ONE NOISE from one section, the rest of the ground will join in as they do now

This is the only drum that should be banged at the moment, the one that tells city to do what ever they can to move the away fans. Splitting us up like they have together with reversing the seating order in easy stand (those nearest away fans in Kippax found themselves nearest north stand in Etihad) are the 2 main reasons we struggle to sustain a good atmosphere.

It's not a drum we need, it's a better seating plan. I'm in 210 which is near away fans but all around me are families and blokes 40+ with no desire to sing. I have no doubt that most people around me used to years ago but now feel that it's time for the youngsters to do it, but there aren't any in that area. There needs to be an easier option for people to relocate to an area more appropriate. an incentive for people who don't want to sing to relocate.

A drum will not suddenly make these fans stand up and sing. They just don't want to anymore.

the dortmand fans didnt seem to have a problem with the exact same seats the ss have now

A drum like Dortmund? Absolutely yes. I'm a bit old and fat these days to get involved, but am fully behind this. Come on Citizens MAKE SOME NOISE

Either you didn't read my post or I'm not getting the joke.

We don't have a problem with away games, just home games.

Sounds like I'm in the minority, but I would welcome a drum and anything else that helps to make a bit more noise at home games.

I appreciate that not everyone wants to sing, but surely even the quietest / oldest of people would like some atmosphere when they go to the football ... if they really want a quiet afternoon, they've probably come to the wrong place ?

During the Dortmund match, it was like a morgue where I was sitting and I have to admit it - I was jealous of the Dortmund fans - found myself almost wishing I was in their end !
