Dont give a toss about europa league

Yes I did and they were great, but we have our sights set a lot higher than this mickey mouse cup. I know where we've come from but I also know where we're going. It's not about you and your mates being denied a stag weekend, it's about making our club the biggest in Europe, and some of us can see the bigger picture.

The only argument some of you have against any of us saying we shouldn't want to be in the Europa League (and make no mistake, our owners don't give a flying fuck about that competition, so call them arrogant too) is that it's a good excuse for a piss up with your mates. Well, I've got mates and I can have a piss up with them every weekend. I'd rather see City in a real European competition, thank you. And if we can't get into the Champions League, I don't want us pissing about in a third rate cup that's expressly designed to make sure we never do get in the Champions League.

With all due respect, don't go to them then. Football is 99% piss up with your mates and this is what we use to hold dear as fans when we had no chance of winning anything. If we don't get Champions league then we'll try again next year, for the time being we might as well enjoy ourselves. At the very least it gets you out the house on a Thursday evening.

We'd better fuck the domestic cups off as well then I guess as they're just distractions that mean nothing in real terms to the development of the club.

I wish people would stop saying it's arrogant to hope that we give the Europa a miss. It's nothing to do with arrogance. If the Europa was purely a knock out competition (over two legs) nobody would be objecting. The problem with that tournament is it's trying to be a poor man's version of the Champions League, which is inadviseable to say the least of it. It should have retained the format it once had but the money obssessed idiots at Uefa seem to value making a fast buck over preserving the integrity and viability of the tournament.

I hope we don't end up in the Europa because we'd have to play over fifty games in a season . The Champs League might be worth the effort financially and in terms of prestige, but the Europa is most certainly not worth the effort. And it would take it's toll on our performances, our energy levels and our injury list. What if we are title contenders next season (which is not a fanciful notion)? What if we have decent cup runs in the domestic cups. We can't afford to show the Europa too much respect and that's not arrogance, it's just about practicalities.

The fault lies with the format of the tournament. You can't blame the clubs for that.

Its like a finger pointing at the moon. Watch the finger and you will miss all
the heavenly glory. Bruce Lee.
In other words look at the bigger picture.

BUT SURELY WE CAN JUST PRIORITISE AS WE GO ALONG?!!

Fr'instance, Fulham have devoted themselves to the Uefa Cup this year, having found themselves with little to play for.

If we're genuinely contending for the title next season, then I would strongly suspect that the Europa League will become less important to the club. Likewise, if it comes to the Europa League or fourth, then you can bet we'll be playing Stuart Taylor during the former and not the latter.

Champions League would be cool, but the Europa League would be a lovely distraction too. Everyone needs to relax.

And again the point is entirely fucking missed.

I've not missed your point. I know exactly what you mean I just differ with your opinion. Granted with a wafer thin squad the competion is a pain in the arse. However, we don't have a small squad. We have a great squad and some fantastic youngster capable of getting the team through to the knock out rounds. At this point the tournament mirrors the Champions league so we'd be at no disadvantage with the rest of those probably challenging for top four.
