Makes a huge difference. As somebody right next to the away fans and the drum they usually bring It completely drowns out anything else. You can still make noise and be heard over it but that would require the songs to start and grow well away from the drum which of course they don't.
It's impossible to get things going in the south stand when a loud as fuck drum is the only thing you can hear. Banning their drums would help our crowd immeasurably.
I think it makes a difference if our own singing sections don’t sing. If everyone in the south stand sung it wouldn’t matter about the drum. We also outnumber them by about 50,000 as well.
As I said the Hamburg game - didn’t hear their drum at all because most city fans were singing.
I agree banning the drum probably would help, but I still think we can outsing them easily

We should ban the drum just because we can and they are basically euro-rags.

Not only does it give our own atmosphere a helping hand, it stops those who hate it having to endure the incessant leathering of the drum all these kind of fans do.
Like we used to sing at Portsmouth, ‘can you sing without your drum?!’

Think the drum is the least of our worries.
But that’s all lead by the drum. The visuals are great but the drum is annoying.
The difference it makes is massive. Atalanta didn’t bring a drum and they are my favourite set of fans to visit the Etihad. Their songs were brilliant and miles better than drum lead songs.
