Doorman slams clubber!!

I'm all for bouncers using violence when some pissed twat is trying to have a pop at them (put yourself in that situation and you deserve a smack), but is there a line/law about how much to too far? Can't imagine slamming someone on their back, as if he's trying to break it or kill him, his condoned within the bouncers job description.

Out of interest, has anyone watched the C4 programme Bouncers and if so has it changed anyone's opinions on doormen? I must admit he's helped me gain a bit of insight into their thinking and why they are sometimes how they are, yet whenever I go on a night I never see one doorman who I think 'he's a good bloke, how nice of him to welcome people into his club and pay his wage, its so nice to have someone ensuring the safety of the club...'

Just about all of them are cold as fuck when you approach them, checking your ID they show no manners to say fucking please and thank you, they come round the queue pushing you into the wall to free up pavement space etc. Makes me soon think all bouncers are cunts but I'm sure deep down thats not true

Ive worked in clubs and bars as a DJ for the past 10 years or so and 90% plus of all bouncers on these place have all been sound. Think it depends on the places you go, if its somewhere like the Printworks where there's regular trouble then they are more lkely to come across as nob heads, at the decent places where the clientele is better then they tend to be alright. Always gonna be the odd nob but then again there are also plenty of nobs working behind the bars or in any other trade, the law of averages state that there will always be dick heads about.

I trained with many Doormen and encountering them outside of their work environment their true self was more visible.

Never had any problems with them and from remembrance most (if not all) were normal, general lads with one exception:
Some were on the Gear and most had done a bit of training to learn how to handle themselves.

At work its totally different. This goes for someone serving you a burger at McDonald's to a Doorman.
Regularly being around people who are completely wasted on drink and drugs, you will develop some negative perception of Joe public and you come along happy as Larry, sober and being pleasant straight after the Doorman has just had to eject some scrote for being drunk.
His perception of you and the situation will be tested no matter how nice you are.

Many clubs have shyed away from the big guys, tending to employ more intelligent smaller guys (not 6'5) with people skills who can also handle themselves as a last resort.

Like everything though, there is good and bad.

The worst thing anyone can do with Doormen is be confrontational themselves (no matter how much you think you can handle yourself) as this just reminds them of their last resort.

In the video the guy is looking for a fight and could of attempted to walk away.

I've never had any problems with any Doormen whilst out on a night out. Why? Because I keep my mouth shut and walk away.

Pretty much my experience too Ste, trained and fought with some lads who are actually very decent lads.

On that video, to be perfectly honest, if anyone was threatening violence or trying that with me, I wouldn't hold back because I may be bigger or could handle myself better, and I wouldn't expect anyone else to either, when it gets to that point, you just don't fuck about and go with what you know, it's the other fuckers lookout if he's bitten off more than he can chew.

Many years ago I was innocently stood in 5th avenue (the club) when it all kicked off in another area of the club. I Wasnt even drinking I was on lemonade and had my car parked outside - I think I was working the next day. Anyway when it all calms down 2 bouncers walked up to me and my mate who were simply having a chat and says "they were involved". The next minute I am carried up some stairs by my neck with my feet not touching the floor. As I got to the top of the stairs they twitted my head against he door and gave me a good kicking. Like a dickhead I then phoned the police in front of them and they smashed my phone to bits and twitted me about even more. Scum if the earth most of them.

How many of these Billy Big Bollocks on here have had scrotes off their heads on drugs threatening them with bottles, knives etc, the drug scene has gradually got worse since i started in 1998.

Any of you dealt with 40 -100 City fans fighting with the police at Roses bar (nearly every home game in 1998 before Roses was shut down) when you got to get through the fighting to get the bar staff out safely.

Im not gonna deny there is sted heads doing doors, plenty of dickheads doing the door but the job we do is underappreciated for the shit we deal with, people complain about grief the police got but when i go on the door i havent got a cosh to help me and tbh most of the time the police are about as much use as a chocolate fireguard.
