Dortmund (H) - CL QF | Post-Match Thread

Thought Pep got caught up in his CL emotions again that have haunted him for the last 3 season's at the QF stage. Whereas is the PL regardless of the score line he's looked relaxed.

We were sloppy tonight, especially in the 1st half. Rodri, Ederson, Walker. Losing the ball. Dwelling on it. Giving it away. Etc. Better in the 2nd half. A bit more composure in-front of goal(by Phil) and we could have scored more goals.

Liked to have seen 1 or 2 more subs prior Dortmund scoring. We were looking tired and leggy.

But there are no bad teams in the QF, so I'll take a 2-1 lead.

Dortmund need to score, so they will attack us. We need to stay patient and catch them on the break.

Where was Stones or Ruban when Haaland set up their equaliser ??
WAFSC !!!!

Honestly have not seen the replay but I would think they were within 20 yards, unlike Bellingham for our second goal. Anyway, the comparison is apples and oranges.

My only concern for the second leg is that pep might tinker and overthink it,we weren’t that great tonight played in patches and some players looked jaded or just off the pace, interesting that Dortmund tired last 10-15 mins ..

I don't think the false 9 worked. It suited their defence to have us play in front of them. It was disappointing as Hummels has always been weak at defending when he has to turn. Jesus comes on, made the centre halves have to think about the space behind them and we looked more dangerous. I would feel a lot more confident if he starts the second leg.
I agree with you

I also thought Rodri struggled without Bernardo or Fernandinho helping him out

Sorry for not being happy clapper. This performance is not good enough to beat clubs like that.

Don‘t think anyone is particularly enamored with that performance. Yet, we still found a way to get a late goal that changes the complexion of the away match completely.

Dare I say in previous campaigns the visiting team would have scored another late goal for the win.

Shit lineup and lucky to get away with a win. Bellingham goal should have stood.

Pep if ur listening. Stop tinkering with the lineup ffs. And play a striker. And don't be afraid to drop a big name player

Even worse he held the wrong part of his body that has been hit !!! To be fair I have also seen Jesus do the same thing.

Probably because they have watched every cheating **** at other teams do it and get penalties and free kicks.

Doesn't make it right but it is understandable when it happens against us and we get punished.

We were definitely well below par for the first (or only) leg of a quarter final once again, but the good news is that we got through it with a win rather than 0-3 v Liverpool, 0-1 v Spurs, and 1-3 v Lyon. If we play like we did in the second legs of those games (and playing on a better pitch in Dortmund will favor us, as will the away goals rule, if things get crazy), we'll be in pretty good shape.
