Dortmund (H) - CL QF | Post-Match Thread

Not our best performance but we got the win and are in position to advance next week.

I think a few of the players and maybe even Pep are getting in their own heads a bit once we hit the QF. To that end I hope this win was a mental boost and theyre able to kick on from here.

make no mistake about it, that was a poor, pretty timid performance from our lads tonight. midfield was no where to really be seen except from de bruyne and phil. both were outstanding. Gundogan, and rodri were slow, sloppy and all over the place for most of the game. Rodri gave the ball away far too many times. Dias wasn't his assertive and rock solid self and i feel that anxiety and nervousness echoed its way through the team.

Really had hoped to keep a clean sheet tonight, but you cant say dortmund didnt deserve at least a goal.

This was just an odd performance, but at least we're taking a win to germany.
Lol

He's 17, bloody massive, and a great talent who's just made his England debut, they and every other media outlet will be talking about him over the summer. He cost 25 Mil, Dortmund will double there money in three years
He did look good, but so did Jack Wilshire at that age (and Theo Walcott). He's very promising, but there's a long way to go yet.

I’m still astonished that Dortmund are 5th and 14 points behind Leipzig. On that performance Dortmund are light years ahead of Leipzig but Leipzig limped out to Liverpool. Dortmund might be the best side we’ve played this year in terms of how they found our weaknesses. Haaland with next no service, Bellingham and Akanji were very good for them tonight.

For 70 minutes they were excellent and unfortunate to be behind. They looked beaten once Jesus came on, we created a few chances to kill the tie so their goal was against the run of play. In fairness we reacted very well and got a deserved winner. KDB and Foden were very good. Thankfully Ederson, Walker, Cancelo, Dias, Rodri and Gundogan are all in credit and no doubt will redeem themselves 2nd leg.

Considering they had scored in 37 straight games and we hadn’t conceded in 7 in the champions league, something had to give. Sadly it was our defensive record. The win is huge, we definitely need a goal in Germany as they will probably score again. Still if we can avoid conceding an early goal and get over our nerves, we should be ok.
