Thanks for the info mate. Is there any likelyhood that we will be kept in for a while after the game or will they let both sets of fans out at the same time?
Only reason I'm asking is that we really could do with catching the 23.53 train back to Dusseldorf. Looking at google maps, it's a 47 minute walk back to the station which should be more than enough time but if there is a significant delay in getting out of the stadium then it might be tricky. I know from earlier posts that there are stations near the stadium that serve the main train station so maybe no need to walk back but I'd imagine these would be extremely busy?
No problem, you’re welcome!
I don’t think that they will keep you in since this should not be a high security game. So everybody can leave the stadium at the same time around 22:35 (over time ;-) ). The issue then is that around 60TSD people are leaving (still 20TSD less than at Bundesliga games, due to all seating regulation for CL). Lot of them will take the shuttle or/and go by car, but you also have a lot of people that take the subway to the main station (there are three close to the ground). Then one you should take is you leave the stadium and turn right then you go straight and then you see already the signs. So i guess it will take around 15 minutes (give and take some) before you arrive at main station. So that is why I think you should take it easy and go for the S-Bahn, buy some drinks and food. Maybe you get the RE, but i would not bet on that. You also have the option to take the ICE, but that cost you some extra money. The other trains are free with the match ticket.
Thanks again mate. It sounds like while we probably won't get the RE, we shouldn't have any trouble making it back to the station for the S-Bahn at 23.53. Provided we don't drink too much gluhwein on the Christmas market beforehand!
