Just got this back. Hopefully helps a few of us out

Dear Mr. Taylor,

Thank you very much for your inquiry.

The entrance tickets for some football matches have indeed include a VRR-ticket for one trip to the stadium and back within the whole VRR-area (from Dusseldorf to Dortmund and back for example).

These entrance tickets are special signed, for example with a printed VRR-logo on it. But you can use the tickets only on the day of the event/football match. You can travel back to Dusseldorf with these tickets until 3 a.m. the following day.

The last train to Dusseldorf on Dec 5th is S-Bahn-Line "S1" from Dortmund Hbf to Solingen Hbf (23.53 from track No. 7,arrival in Dusseldorf at 01.23 a.m.)

If you stay in Dortmund for the night and travel back on the next day to dusseldorf, you'll need new regular tickets with price level D.

If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

that's good to know!

cheers

are you staying in dusseldorf??

Yes mate A&O Hostel (stayed in the equivalent in Munich) 3 nights. Get there Sunday evening go home Wednesday evening

Seems to be quite a few Blues staying there, two of us there from Monday morning - lunchtime, another two arriving tuesday and a couple of mates from Chaddy direction stopping there as well

Does this mean every City fan with a ticket has a free train ticket from Dusseldorf to Dortmund?
If so does the train stop at Oberhausen.
I tried to check on the VRR website but its not working properly

"Does this mean every City fan with a ticket has a free train ticket from Dusseldorf to Dortmund?"

YES!!!

The train goes via Düsseldorf-Flughafen, Duisburg, Mülheim ( near Oberhausen ), Essen, Bochum to Dortmund.
When you arrive in Dortmund, you leave the station and visit ( 5-10 min. to march, you can ask everbody to show you the way ) "Alter Markt, Hansaplatz" ( Weihnachtsmarkt with the largest christmas-tree of the world ). Afterwards you enter - after a few beers or "Glühwein" - the underground at "Stadtgarten" or "Reinoldikirche" with the destination "Stadion" or "Westfalenhallen".
Who likes, marches from the city along "Hohe Strasse" directly to the stadium ( about 25 min., if you do not visit the many pubs along the way to the stadium, by the way: guests are welcome! )

I was very pleased by the atmosphere in Manchester and I think you should be too in Dortmund.
