as a number 6 he is way better than any of our current players with the exception of rodri.....he is a better 6 than Gundo in his prime and a better 6 than Kovacic in his prime as NEITHER of them were number 6's really...yes both have played there but I wouldnt ever have put Gundo as a 6 in a priority game, unless we had to.....even if Rodri wasnt fit. He could do it against lesser teams but against the best he struggled.....he was a much better/world class central and attacking midfielder but he aint even that now.

KDB could never play 6

bernardo - works his socks off but aint a 6

Rico as we have seen hugely struggles.....

Akanji as a temporary fix is ok but press him well he struggles at times....

The ONLY player that could possibly do the job better than Luiz in our present squad (other than Rodri obviously) is John Stones - BUT his injury record is horrible and he wont be on the pitch enough
 
I see that he's going to Forest.

And Arsenal, Fulham, United, City, Liverpool, Everton...

...and also he's heading back to Villa.

At what point do we switch to listing the clubs who aren't loaning him?

Can't agree with this don't think he's good enough on the ball to play the no 6 role the way we play it. I'd see him more of a 8. On the plus side he can take a corner!!!

Did we have a tremendous midfield at that point though? I would say yes. We need that area strengthening. It's a no brainer to see how he plays without the initial risk of a fee. These chances don't come up often.

what we need at present is defensive cover...he was Villa's player of the year.

he is very solid defensively, can cover the ground and will stop those counters on us when the likes of Rico, Gundo etc look like they are wading through concrete. He needs to just be able to keep it simple....we have been blessed with Rodri who can basically do it allbut he is a bit of a unicorn of a footballer....

If not Luiz who do you suggest that is attainable and better?

situations change....we didnt need him then - now we do....or would you prefer to continue with the absolute disaster that we have seen from the likes of Gundo, and Rico in recent months....?

Of if not thatwho is better and available? - and lets extendit further...who would you go for in the summer? cause most people predicted what would happen with Rodri in the last two summers and the club made a mistake in not providing the squad depth in that area buying the ilkes of Kalvin Phillips (was never going to be good enough) and Nunes....(again not good enough in that defensive role) bringing an aged Gundo back (who was nevr a great 6 even in his prime)
 
I would say Luiz would be the ideal signing rather loan or permanent in a position where we are most desperate.
Not really sold on us being linked with young defenders who will have little impact this season
