drinking at the match

It's like saying why can't be sit next to opposition fans... Speaking as a rugby man its just a completly different game to watch.

logistics? buy pint,go back to seat, sup, simple

This season I've moved from 117 where standing and people movements didn't matter to now half sit/stand in 315. People wander round like zombies blocking the view now, thinking about them coppering up with mates then bringing 3 beers back would be fucking awful for everyone else.

Beer in standing zones only.

watching the rugby at the Etihad last night and people being allowed to take drinks back to their seats, surely in this day and age with equality and discrimination, human rights etc it cant be right to let rugby fans do it and ban football fans. times have moved on now and im sure it could be done, it would also stop the half time stampede for a pint an take pressure off the poor fuckers behind the bar who take dogs abuse for taking so long to get everybody served In ten mins

It's no more ridiculous than the law that states that standing at a football ground is unsafe........if you're in the top two divisions. Utterly ridiculous and wholly inconsistent law.

Exacly. A fucking joke that is.

That's an interesting thought. I'll buy drinks all night to the first journalist who asks Klopp for his opinion of safe standing.

Give this man a pint, that is a fantastic idea! As the media obviously loves him now that he's the bin dippers saviour this is THE chance to seize the opportunity

even that's not allowed, the rules are if you can see the pitch you cant drink as I found out when on level one where you can see the pitch from the concourse, they even have fuckin box junctions where your not allowed to stand!

The box zones were a last minute thing or there would have been no beer on level one. Like Chelsea away bottom level with no concourse on the reduced allocation.

The problem is football fans are treated differently as they act differently, and only have themselves to blame.

Fortunately not as many rugby fans have the cuntitis gene that inflicts many football fans, the reality is it would cause more trouble than it's worth, we have many fans who I dislike being anywhere near me never mind having a beer in their hands

More like they'd be killed if they blocked my view of a goal being scored
Tell you what, I'm fuckin sick of the jack-in-the-box types who are constantly up and fucking down throughout the match whilst they go for a hotdog and Bovril. Why the fuck can't they just do it before the match or at half time is beyond me.

It's 90 minutes FFS and I've never understood why people can't fill their bellies and get their drinks at a sensible time and stop interrupting the game by constantly having fans getting up to let them past or blocking everyone's view if they're in the row in front. I missed our opener against Juventus for exactly the same reason because of some bird who was constantly going back and forth to the bar as if she was feeding the 5000!!

Fortunately we sit in the middle of the row so are rarely bothered, mind you everyone else moans when I go for my 17th pee

It's not often that I partake in having a drink at the game, however to me it's one of the pointless bit of legislation, if you ever have the joy of being invited to hospitality at any ground they have to shut the curtains save that you seeing the game with a drink in your hand, it's outdated and patronising and time it was assigned to the dustbin of legislation heaven

Someone might bite, good luck

Most fans including city are decent but football does attract more dickheads than rugby, just a fact of life, allowing this minority to have beer during the game really isn't worth it, 90 minutes without a beer once a week won't kill even the most ardent alky never mind anyone else

Not to mention everyone around you wanting a piss every two minutes

Having suffered at the hands of our drunken fans at away matches I am not in favour of them disturbing me at home matches!! I go to watch football not to have beer spilled over me or to be assaulted by drunken yobs thanks!!!

I've attended rugby matches where they have been drinking and it is a totally different atmosphere, maybe it is because rugby is so much a stop and start kind of game but whatever it is it does not have the intensity of a football match and the fans are not as fanatical.

Not being able to drink in that little blue match of paint has to be one of the most ridiculous rules ever imposed.

The worst thing for me is the total hypocrisy of the footballing authorities.

They openly allow beer companies to sponsor the CL or clubs to have an official beer sponsor but yet don't allow fans to buy it at the stadium (in CL) or watch the game with a beer.

They talk about fans being unique and creating a special atmosphere but they don't let us stand and try to price the average working person out of the game.

I wish they would just come out and be honest and say we want football to be like a theatre where people turn up, sit down and go home with no hassle. Rather than treat us fans as second class citizens.

Most RL grounds have terraces. Its much easier to go get a drink and bring it back without disturbing people on terraces than it is in an all seater stand. I've been to several Grand Finals and seen quite a few confrontations to do with people constantly standing up to go get a beer and/or spilling it over their neighbours. Its a pain.

When we played Borrussia M a few weeks ago....I remember seeing their fans when there was a close up of a throw in or corner or whatever...and you would spot someone holding a pint-large glass with beer.

Why are they allowed to do this in champs league games and us lot in England cant even buy a beer on the concourse let alone take it to our seats ???

It definitely happens when you see German champ leagues games but why ? any of our fans allowed to take it to their seats in our end the other week in Borrussia ? Also did any of our fans on here who attended that match or the Bayern games away we've played in the last few years notice how the Germans are allowed to drink in their seats/stands ?
