drinking at the match

I don't think Football or Rugby should have beer in view of the game. The violence reasons have been well covered already, but in such intensive sports I don't want to miss crucial bits of action because the bloke selling beers is standing in my way or I'm letting someone past me with an armful of drinks.

Beer in view of the game works in Cricket, Baseball and NFL because they have frequent pauses and last at least 3 hours.

It woks just fine in hockey too, and the players spend half the game punching two tons of shit out of each other. $15.00 a beer when I went to see TFC last month.

Hip flask filled with whatever is your tipple, Drink at seat, not paying top dollar for a pint of watered down piss in a plastic pot, job done, works for me!

I got stopped by a steward for that and I wasn't even in sight of the pitch. You're only allowed to drink what you buy in the stadium.

A mate was prevented from taking fish and chips into the ground for similar reasons.

I've never been stopped taking my own food/drinks in. I normally put it in a backpack though. My mate used to like a drink on the way to the ground but we'd seen loads get stopped for drinking from cans so he'd pour some beer into a water bottle and call it apple juice.

Most RL grounds have terraces. Its much easier to go get a drink and bring it back without disturbing people on terraces than it is in an all seater stand. I've been to several Grand Finals and seen quite a few confrontations to do with people constantly standing up to go get a beer and/or spilling it over their neighbours. Its a pain.

I agree.

And it is annoying to be constantly jumping up and down to let people pass. They seem more interested in drinking than watching the match. They aren't real fans and should be in the pub watching on TV, not at the ground.

Some fans in SS3 missed 4 goals either side of half time against Newcastle.

Not sure about fish & chips but I know that I take sandwiches in sometimes in my back pack & always take a bottle of water in. They search my back pack most weeks & 99.9% of the time just wave me through. The couple of times I've been stopped & questioned I just say I need the water as I'm a diabetic (which is true Type2) & they have let me through. So I am not sure where you got that from.

Went for a pint at half time against Newcastle .
Missed the first three minutes of the second half .
The same thing happened to me last year against Burnley at home .
I missed Burnley offside goal in that match .
City need to start serving people quicker for a drink .

Or get out of your seat a bit earlier - I can't remember the last time I saw any football between 40 and 45 minutes in first half
