Drinking on your own in a pub

CTID there is absolutely nothing wrong with that mate! - I've got a great pub just round the corner from my office and sometimes at lunch time i love nothing more than going into the pub sitting in the corner, catching up on the news reading a paper and having a roll with a decent pint on my own not having to talk to anyone at all!

I also find if i go in on my own that i'll always end up chatting to someone i've never met before about many varied topics and it's nice to talk to new people etc..

And im only 21 so maybe im a sad fucker but to me it's some me time away from everything else and i can just relax and do as i please :)

I used to do it when I was younger. But I mainly drink in locals now so I know people and usually end up chatting. But working away I've sat in a pub on my own just for some peace. Nowt wrong with it.
You seem to feel uncomfortable about it though. Why care if people look. I doubt they actually are. Or maybe you can take a book.

Not uncomfortable, i actually enjoy it, i was just wondering if anyone else does itand now i know that they i do i can see myself being a full blown lonely alcholic by mid May!
All this talk has made me really fancy a pint actually!

If your thirsty have a drink, you don't always have to have someone holding your hand

Plus I've no mates so its the only way

I'm your mate squirtyflower (if you get me that ticket anyway!)

Was thinking the exact same thing mate! - Ow and look at that, it's lunch time :P

I do it during the week, although I know most people in each pub on my route, I quite like my own company during the week.

For around 15 years, I travelled the country with the job (Hit Man for the Revenue), and tended to stay where possible in pubs in Camra's Supping and Kipping guide, but then we started working in teams, and went away mob-handed.

I never had a problem being on my own, because I went back home every weekend to my family.

There's always some time in your life when you want to chill out on your own, so it's nothing unusual. Not everyone has the herding instinct.

I've just (2 hours ago) booked a week away to Majorca 2 days after the end of the season. This will be the first time since my wife died 3 years ago that I have been away for more than a couple of days on my own. I'm both looking forward to it, and am also apprehensive about whether I've made the right decision. Things change as you get older.

I am 46 and did this very thing yesterday. My GF pissed off early and the pub was full of Rag armchairs, so I just parked myself up in the pool room and perused the Sunday papers/magazines. I actually felt a bit put out when some Rag **** came and spoke to me! Great way to spend a Sunday afternoon IMO.

My mate is 34 and he does it. Just goes for a pint on his own and will start talking to strangers.

I personally have never done it and never will however you do it to relax on your own he does it coz hes odd and just wants to chat. So your reason is fine by me and i would do that too.
I've got a mate like that and Me and all my pals think he's HARPURHAY!

I was working in London and City were playing at the Den(old),I knocked off early and proceeded to make my way over to game and ended up in a pub on the Old Kent Rd.
As the boozer filled up with Millwall and I pretended to be engrosed in the Evening Standard,an old bloke leaned over and said"ere mate, you're reading that paper upside down".
A trip to the boozer on ones own,is great for people watching.
