Is this socially acceptable? I know a load of old timers do it and i dont bat an eyelid, but im 24... Sometimes i just cant be arsed with anybody, i cant be bothered talking and just fancy a pint. I live in town so ive loads of places on my doorstep, so i go for a walk with my ipod and find a place with some decent beers and chill out for a bit. Il be honest, i feel like a right sad bastard when im doing it and i get the feeling that everybody must be looking at me thinking "HAHA look at that lonely twat", is this the case?!
I feel the need to get my phone out every 10 minutes to make it look like im waiting for somebody or my trains delayed or something!
Does anybody else go for a quiet pint on your own? I need reasurring that im not a 80 year old in a 24 year olds body

My mate is 34 and he does it. Just goes for a pint on his own and will start talking to strangers.

I personally have never done it and never will however you do it to relax on your own he does it coz hes odd and just wants to chat. So your reason is fine by me and i would do that too.

There is no finer way of passing a couple of hours on your own than sat with the papers and a few pints. You cannot call yourself a man if you do not do this. Don't feel sad or 'old before your time', it is a laudible way of spending your time.

i do mate.

sit in my local for a couple reading, or using it as my thinking place with a writing pad.

I live in a place I'm not from and hardly know anyone and regularly pop out for a few on my own. To watch a game or just chill for a bit on my own.

Haven't noticed anyone looking at me like I'm weird but wouldn't give a flying fuck if I did.

I've only done it when I have arrived stupidly early for something or a mate is running late. I tend to get work stuff out and crack on with that or if it's a social call then start messing on my phone.

Nothing wrong with having a pint on your own mate - I do it all the time.
Nothing better than sitting with a pint of Guinness and a Racing Post and finding the four slowest horses running that day.
Sometimes a mate can come in, and you end up getting arseholed when you only planned on the one, or you get talking to a stranger and find you have loads in common, and you end up getting arseholed.
Or you pull the barmaid, and end up...you get the picture.
That random Dice Man nature of pubs is brilliant.

I've done it, and don't see anything wrong with it. I like to sit down with a (PREMIUM) lager or a beer, have a read, have a think and shoot the breeze with new people. It's funny as my friend thinks this is a bit odd, but he goes to the cinema on his own which I would never do.

I used to do it when I was younger. But I mainly drink in locals now so I know people and usually end up chatting. But working away I've sat in a pub on my own just for some peace. Nowt wrong with it.
You seem to feel uncomfortable about it though. Why care if people look. I doubt they actually are. Or maybe you can take a book.
