Drogba

As so often , it is still Manchester City waving item transfers . By TONThe Citizens are looking for a great striker, although they have in their ranks Carlos Tevez , Emmanuel Adebayor and Roque Santa Cruz again . They have moved closer to Chelsea to see if there was a possibility of recovering Drogba !
If Drogba hand , Torres arrives?
The Manchester club would even be willing to pay between 15 and 20 million euros to enlist the Ivory Coast striker , currently on holiday . The last 32 years, is still under contract with the Blues 2012. If he were to leave London, the leaders would consider Chelsea , themselves, to acquire Fernando Torres. An interesting game of musical chairs would then begin .

Could interpret this is one of two ways.

1) We have reached agreement with Chelsea that they can have Torres without a bidding war but the price is they sell us Drogba. We were interested in Jan if memory serves me right and he nearly came, and with two of his international team mates here I can't see a problem, he will receive one hell of a wage maybe his last pay off, won most things with Chelsea might be up for a fresh challenge OR

2) It is a warning to Chelsea to back off from the Torres deal or we will go after Drogba, ITKs seem to think Chelsea have pulled out maybe this is the reason.

Pure specualtion by the way on my part but we were accused by arry last year when we were going for Bellamy of telling them to back out or we would also go for palacios (bollocks IMO).

According to The Sun:

MANCHESTER CITY are lining up a £20million bid for Didier Drogba.
City boss Roberto Mancini is a long-term admirer of the Chelsea striker.
The Ivory Coast star, 32, has not ruled out a move and a source said: "Chelsea will have to decide whether they want him to stay. City's offer will be tempting considering Didier's age."
Drogba would earn over £18m in three years if he chose to move to Eastlands.
The striker won the Golden Boot with 29 Premier League goals last term as Chelsea stormed to the title and FA Cup.
Drogba still has two years to run on his Stamford Bridge deal.
But if he was to leave the champions, Chelsea would be sure to make a move for Liverpool hitman Fernando Torres.
City have already lashed out £60m this summer on David Silva, Jerome Boateng and Yaya Toure.
Boss Mancini also wants Lazio full-back Aleksander Kolarov - though the Serb may prove too expensive.
Lazio president Claudio Lotito said: "In my opinion, he is worth as much as Mauro Zarate, who we paid around £18.7m for."

I can't see us accepting that really, unless City gave us the all clear to get Torres.

not being funny m8,,20 mil for a 32 yo,,now that would be stupidity at the highest level, don't get me wrong crackin player and ill have him in my dream team again, but just wouldn't make any sense at-all to me,,totally dead money

30+ goals a season is worth more than £20 Million for me, and he's shown he can still do it. I can see where you're coming from, but I really wouldn't want to part from him without signed guarantees that City won't bid for Torres, then at least we'd have a replacement equally as good if not better.

here's a scenario:

We bought Drogba because we promised Chelski we withdraw any bid to Torres.

Chelski goes for Torres in a 70mil bid. Torres says feck off, because he wants to play with Drogba.

We get Torres purely on the basis that he wants to team up with Drogba, and likewise. We didn't do anything wrong.

Thing is hes what 32 ? Yes last season he was still the best in the world pretty much and probably will be this season as well, but hes really getting on a bit now. Has 1 or 2 seasons at the top level max.

Also you really have to start questioning desire when a player like him has won so much and already has more money than he could spend in 10 lifetimes.

All the big players we are looking at and are signing are designed to be with us for 4 or 5 years at least.

He doesnt fit in with the strategy at all.

I hope we dont sign him personally or any players like him at that sort of age as brilliant a player as he is now and probably next season, some will say well he would get us in the champions league so its worth it, I would rather bring in young hungry world class players who still have something to prove who want to win things and acheive something not 30 something players that have been there and have the shirt just looking for a huge payday.
