Dullest Football Since Pearce?

Ever since we moved to the double pivot, I have to say this has got to be the dullest City side since the Pearce days.

We were obviously worse under Sven and Hughes but there was a far more positive approach to the way we played.

This double pivot just sucks the life out of our game, our strengths, and reduces the chances that we create by having one less player in the box. It also makes us a far worse team imo.
Are you sure?

Is it worth reading the other 28 pages Jim ?

I only came in to see what you'd written.
I've only paid fleeting visits C. But the title alone is worth the admission money. Being the gentleman I undoubtedly am, I even offered to delete the thread a page or three back, to save the OP further embarrassment. But my offer was declined. Not sure if he's been on since yesterday (haven't checked the thread).

Pep is saving the legs, saving us from injuries and I think he has played a blinder knowing everyone will suffer in terms of form this year.

I think this is a masterclass in managing a season that should be impossible to manage and far from boring.

I suppose we only find out at the end of the year when we see how we have done in all competitions

Haven’t bothered to read this thread because, well, there’s only so much time one can waste in life. But judging only the thread title: it hasn’t exactly aged well.
I think after the Chelsea game this thread seems ridiculous but to be fair there have been some very tedious games this season.
Some threads are obviously borne out of frustration.

It probably depends what you mean by 'boring'.

We've just won 3-1 at Chelsea, in a game we completely controlled for at least 75 mins. We knew we'd won before half-time.

Under Sven, we lost 0-6 at Chelsea. We also, of course, lost 1-8 at Middlesbrough.
You could argue that those games weren't dull because loads of goals were flying in (to City's net), but they also had a zero enjoyment factor for us City fans.

Completely controlling a game and being 3-0 up at half time could be said to be more boring ... but in another way, it's also fantastic stuff ?

To be fair, the Chelsea game backs up his point (not the title of the OP, which is hyperbolic claptrap). We moved away from the double pivot, as well as went back to playing with more width in the front wide positions, so basically going back to how we used to play more but with some slight tweaks to the fullbacks, and we looked so much better for it.

It’s true, but we should never forget that it takes two to make a football match. We do not bear sole responsibility when a number of teams think that packing your box and then relying entirely on the counter is enjoyable football.

And often justified.

Not aimed at you this, but people are incorrect when they say someone is wrong for a comment/post/thread made at a moment in time when it was right, just because it’s not right now.
