Dundee, July 13th - shocking match report (page 36)

I cannot believe that there are examples of people on this thread who are genuinely pissed off that City got beat in their 1st Pre-Season friendly.

Have a word with yourselves for christ sake.

He is right, if City want to turn up to play another team that fans PAY to see, they should put a shift in, or as another poster has said, let the fans in for free. City were crap against Dundee and there is no excuse for it in my opinion. We have a good reputation in Scotland but playing like we did on Sunday will do nothing but diminish it. Thankfully the fans that took the trouble to attend were fantastic as ever.

Hearts next stop and City need to show them and their fans some respect by playing to the best of their ability, our fans will be there and deserve to stand in the bar after the game knowing that we played to the best of our ability, if Hearts beat us fair enough, in the scheme of things regarding the PL it does not mean anything, it does however mean something to those of us that will be attending, we are paying a lot of money to see a football match, not City players jogging round a pitch pretending to get fit.

Sorry for the rant but I'm old school and I hate to see City lose whoever or whenever they play, saying its a shit friendly is also sour grapes if we get beat too...!!

The game was part of a specific build-up to try and get the best out of the squad during another very long and difficult season where they have to compete in 4 competitions, excluding international games. Nowadays there is a much more carefull and individual planned build-up and this game is part of that. It's not about the result, not even about the performance, it's about the build-up according to plan. August 16th is when it really matters.

I'm old school as well (don't know why that has to do anything with this, but nevermind), I was there when City played Hearts in a friendly in -I think- 1981. I was there to enjoy myself with other City-fans, having a great day out in Edinburgh, and watching City without the nerves and adrenaline. Nowadays preseason is not different other than I had to skip the trip to Edinburgh and instead enjoy myself on a day out at Wembley in a few weeks time. Even that match is part of the build-up, although the expectation will be different than the one City played at Dundee.

I'm just voicing my opinion, not asking you to agree with it or justify why you disagree with it, if that game against Dundee was part of a careful and individual planned build up then the plan needs looking at. Not expecting City to go out all guns blazing or even win these games, just put a shift in and get the maximum benefit from it as part of the pre season fitness regime.

You can voice your opinion, I can voice mine. It's what forums are build for mate.
It's not "If that game was part ...", it IS part of a build-up.
And who says the players didn't put in a shift? Where is that based on? How do you know they didn't get the maximum benefit? City lost two games in South Africa last year. It brought us a League Cup and a Premier League title. I'm sure it was because they didn't put in a shift then?

These games are to build fitness, especially one so early in the build up. The players hadn't even been back a week for goodness sake. Anyone expecting anymore has serious mental issues. To put it more bluntly they're thick.

As Dave said, putting everything on the line so early could be risking serious injury and the last thing the players want is to be missing the whole of pre season.

I haven't seen anyone moaning about the score. Think some of us just think we could have put
a bit more into the game. So you should be 'avin a word about your reading capabilities.

A bit more of what? It was a fitness exercise aimed at easing players back into the footballing world.

Can you not understand this? Anyone working in football would laugh in your face if you even presented this argument to them.

As ever on here, people post without reading the opposite opinion, nobody is asking players to bust a gut or even to win these games.
As for an imbecile like you calling me thick, well that's par for the course too.

I've expressed my opinion and if you don't like it that's fine by me, it wont make you a bad person or mentally ill though, just an imbecile who thinks that his opinion is all that counts.

It's ok. You sound like a right nutcase.

Literally unhappy that the Champions of England didn't 'give more' in a pre season fitness exercise. Utterly cringe worthy.

Jesus Christ.

Edit: Just to confirm if there was a clone of the club with one having my pre season philosophy and one having yours. Mine would go on to be Champions (as proven) and you'd be left players thinking you were are bit of a nutcase.

City don't go out in pre season games. This leads to lots of success. Please tell me what going all out in these fitness exercises would achieve?

Not many football teams play in Scotland and can parade £141 million of talent, I can understand some fans and media expecting more.

Let's play Dundee again later in the season with a full team, if we have a spare date. We'll see what the score is then.

Take your calculators with you!

As we are going round in circles and you are making up things you think have been said by people that disagree with you, this is my final post on the subject. At no time have I or anyone else said City should go all out, bust a gut or even win any pre season games, all that has been said is that they had the ability with the talent fielded to put on a better show for the Dundee game than they did, without inflicting injury or requiring a lung transplant at the end of the game.
Nobody has said the games are meaningful with regard to the upcoming season.
You have misquoted and misinterpreted what has been said to suit your peevish replies as have some of the other posters.
Disagree with me or call me deluded by all means when deserved but based on what I have actually said, not what suits you.

Adios, be a good lad and try not to be so scathing when attacking fellow Blues who disagree with your point of view in future.. !!
