Dunne set for Eastlands exit as Villa agree to splash £6m City skipper

Last updated at 9:10 PM on 25th August 2009

Aston Villa have agreed a £6million fee with Manchester City for their skipper Richard Dunne.

Villa manager, Martin O’Neill, has moved swiftly to head off interest from Sunderland and Everton in Dunne whose nine-year City career looks to be drawing to a close following the arrival of Joleon Lescott in a £24m deal.

Dunne, 29, has spoken of his desire to stay at City but with Lescott joining Kolo Toure at Eastlands is likely to find his first team opportunities limited this season.

We cant sell him whilst Ben Haim is still at the club !

If he has to go it should be to Sunderland or Similar not a side we are competing with for the top 6 places in the league.

6 mil is a decent price for Dunnie, i never expected him to stay tbh - not a man for the bench.

thanks for your service Dunnie but not good enough for our first team now.

For the service he's given over the last nine years, he deserves to go wherever he chooses...
