No not at all. If Vlahovic was being signed as a back up Striker then yes, but that would not be the case. He would be signed as the main striker, alternative to Kane.

Delap is not quite ready to be City’s main Striker. This frees up Delap to get minutes under his belt for a Championship side to test his ability at a higher level than PL2.

I realise Vlahovic is young himself and untested in Prem but he has the advantage over Delap in being a couple of years older and experience of playing in a top league, ie. Serie A. and proving himself there from taking the step up from their academy to 1st team.

I wouldn’t be disappointed if Vlahovic came instead of Kane considering Kane’s potential transfer fee is going to be so high. Who knows, Vlahovic rumours may be just a smokescreen though.

Vlahovic looks like a rough diamond but the transfer fee is ridiculous. At this stage I would raid Arsenal. Lacazette is the obvious target. Class player. Always been too good for the Arsenal. A poor man's Benzema but would do a job for 1-2 seasons. This guy has presence up front and technically excellent. He wouldn't score 25 but he would give us presence in the final 1/3rd. I think there is a good chance this might happen simply because it's late in the window and City's Kane bid looks like its in trouble.

If there is anything meaningful behind this rumour, which like you I'm not convinced there is, it will be as an alternative for Kane, not as a second striker signing. That I can confidently guess. In which case, no different on Delap at all.

I still think the club will land Kane. But wouldn't be surprised if they didn't hesitate to walk away and get a player that is more typically the profile they go for.

If Kane is truly coming as you have stated I don’t think you need to be concerned about Vlahovic pushing Delap further down the pecking order as we won’t sign both Kane and Vlahovic. That would be daft of City.
