Dutch league cancelled | No Champions, No Promotion, No Relegation

The gambling market on one week of prem games probably generates more revenue than this league as a whole. The money in our game , including City is now obscenely high in the context of the new real world. If the prem season is scrapped the fallout could be permanent with the big 6 ( now including Newcastle) pulling away to form a euro League?
Not sure a league involving pan-European travel will be flavour of the month for a wee while.

Interesting to note that the Dutch PM said directly that restarting football without fans being able to attend means it is worth cancelling all together.

Easy to say that there is less money involved in Holland so it is easier for them to make that decision, but morally they have got this spot on.

I agree that football should restart with fans in attendance but Not sure what you mean by morally , If its safe to have football behind closed door and players fell safe and happy to restart then what's wrong with that morally ?

It can help add some normality back to society and also may help kick start parts of the economy again , give people a bit of lift

Again if something is safe and the participants are happy to do it what is morally wrong ?

I'm a big believer that football is for the fans, for the people. Going ahead without fans in attendance showcases putting profits before people. It's tempting to want to restart to get a sense of normality back and keep clubs in profit, so to choose not to do so shows they are putting people's health above those other factors.

That may not be the whole story, maybe they can't police potential gatherings outside ground and in bars for games anyway, but football should never forget the fans.

Not much money sloshing around the Dutch league is there?

Interesting how us, the Germans and Italians keep harping on about wanting to finish the season.

Tons of money sloshing around in those leagues!

The more this desperation of finishing our league drags on the more disconnected from football I feel.

Hammer in total alignment with nail head.

Why chance close doors games.
1 person inside the stadium catches the virus and all hell would break out.Could you imagine the uproar if Arteta caught the virus again.
You would think if the players union had the players interest in mind they would fight not to let it happen.

This decision from Holland will cause a snowball effect , other leagues will follow , the arrogance of UEFA threatening disciplinary action if other european leagues curtail their season is arrogance beyond belief. They are basically trying to overrule the decisions of governments of european countries , who the f*ck does Cerferin and his cohorts think they are , looks like they are trying to play god , what's tens of thousands of lives between friends , UEFA have probably worked out a price per death scenario , billion euro loss against a few thousand lives , result.

European places decided by final league position though.

Might be tough to do that in England due to uneven games played.

If we follow suit, I reckon everything will be based on last season.
