Dzeko and Kolarov are both world class

Really? May be a couple of seasons ago but not any more in my opinion

As for Edin, not many strikers ever get the tag of "World Class" it's a hard position to play in because the judgement is always how many goals never any other aspect of their game, Torres in his prime was one of the few

He's not, bud, absolutely nowhere near.

If he was at any other club, other than United, where myth can be romanticised (Jones the new Duncan Edwards) and perpetuated...

He stands out because he is the only player United can regularly rely on.

Giggs wasn't world class, either, nor Scholes.

Top players, but world class is reserved for the very few.

Granted, Messi is yet to do it at international level, but Rooney has done nothing since he first came in the scene at Euro 2004 in Portugal.

Rooney won't be spoken about in 30 years time outside of Old Trafford and SKY pundits.

For the record, Bobby Charlton wasn't world class, not fit enough to wipe Law and Bell's arse after a curry supper.

The only world class player this country has ever produced is Bobby Moore. I wasn't alive to see it, but my eyes tell me everything I need to know watching it back

I dont know about the definition of "world class" but if you are evaluating a player you need to look at his entire career.

Based on his career, Dzeko (depending on definition) could be considered "world class" player.

Bundesliga's golden boot (twice, almost).
Bundesliga champion (not a bench player, sole reason Wolfsburg were champions).
Second best scorer in WC2010 qualifiers.
Will be all-time best scorer in his national team by the time he's 26.

Could start for almost any top club in the world (bare maybe Barca and Real).

If you dont believe he could - put him on a transfer list in the summer, and see :-)

To me - that is enough for someone to be considered top, top player. If we are being realistic.

David May of the rags has many winners medals up to and including a Champions League winners medal. He wasnt even pub class

Read the brackets, dont take shit out of context.

Dzeko was a SOLE reason for Wolfsburg's title with 30+ goals, not a bystander.

He was a golden boot once, 2nd in the league another time. You're talking apples and oranges with that comparison.

Thought Savic played well for the most part, but he put us into trouble twice with terrible decisions, which lead to him giving the ball away in our defensive third. Other than that, he coped well with almost everything. He'll no doubt improve. Just unfortunate that he's been thrown in at the deep end against teams like Spurs and Liverpool, without having the experience to deal with it. Not his fault.

Kolarov was a mixed bag. At times looks ace, at other times he looks like he lacks concentration, and his defensive decision making is suspect. He visibly resisted the temptation to shoot at times on Saturday which is a positive. His crossing was quite good, and he is better going forward than Clichy.

Dzeko was brilliant on Saturday for me. Hold up play was exceptional at times. He did his best to hit the keeper with his goal, but they all count. Hope he can keep it up. You can't argue when both your strikers have 15+ goals by the start of Feb.

None are 'world class' though. Dzeko is the closest out of the three, but he's still some way off.

End of the day as we know football is a TEAM game and also these days a SQUAD game. Never is one player the sole reason for a team winning a championship except maybe Maradona but he was a one off.
Im not saying Edin isnt top class as he is im saying using teams success to say a player is good is a flawed logic

We'll have to agree to diagree, Tolm. He's world class by my definition: he'd get in my world squad. Giggs was definitely not world class. Scholes was pretty close. What Rooney offers, as well as the potential to run games, open defences and get superb goals, is the ability to win the ball back through graft. When you throw that whole package together, he's a top drawer player.

In terms of world class players produced by this country: that's a totally different question and an interesting one. In my lifetime, Gazza was world class around the time of the 1990 world cup. Bryan Robson was world class in the 80s. In recent years, Owen was pretty damn close to it when he had pace but probably lost the pace just before he reached that level. Shearer was pretty close to world class too, maybe maybe not.

Beyond that, I can't think of many more in my lifetime.
