Dzeko - How well did he play?

I must have been watching a different game. His first touch was good, his vision was good, a couple of passes lacked pace to reach the man but that was about it. In fact, i thought he was one of our better players which admittedly wasn't hard, but i don't understand the stick he's getting
Totally agree. It seems as if the fans on here are criticizing him for every bad touches he makes, which aren't many. I think he's been great considering he's played 3 games!

needs better service. done all he possibly could, defensively and offensively been great when possible so far.

Did anyone else there today think he'd put it over for a split second?

Took his goal well by getting over the ball, was still a tricky chance, he's getting better by the week. Can't wait for Birmingham.

If he stays fit he'll score loads for us - he broke the ice today by scoring and he'll only get better. He loves scoring and has a great attitude.

What a bunch of miserable, negative fans we have. Reason I've no posts on here is the exact drab you all talk. Go to every game home, away or aris. Moan, moan, moan is all you lot do. I'll get criticised for this post but I speak honestly and right. Remember where we once were. Get a bloody grip

With a fit Silva back in the line up and even Tevez, I can't see Dzeko having a bad game. So something like this:

...............................Hart..................................
....................................................................
..................K Toure..............Kompany...................
.....................................................................
...Richards.............................................Kolarov...
.............................De Jong...............................
.....................................................................
...............Y Toure.....................Milner.................
.....................................................................
...............................Silva.................................
......................................................................
...................Tevez (C)..........Dzeko.......................

Secret weapon: Jo

rather have barry than milner.

he scored - which is basically what he's supposed to do, but I saw him doing a few other useful things today too.

I like what I see, and think he'll only get better. Can't wait to see if we'll play Mario and Edin in the same team; when everyone's fit we will be spoilt for attacking riches!

- and we'll need to get a win at the Theatre of Debt next month...

(then again, I'm never one to slag off or be overly negative about City players)

Did everyone see a different game to me? He was awful against Villa but he was good in this game. Made some great passes, tracked back and saved the Club from humiliation, i would say that's pretty good acheivement when the service was awful.

Nurah,

I agree completely with you.

I remember it being said when Sven was in charge, in relation to Martin Petrov.

People in this country are too quick to focus on what players can't / don't do (weaknesses) rather than what they can do (strengths).

On another note, I don't know if anyone has written this, because I can't be bothered reading through all the posts made on this thread this afternoon, but I think that will turn out to be a very important goal for City, not in the context of the game, which it obviousl was, but more for the player who scored it.

Edin has now got the monkey off his back, even if it was in the Cup to lower league opposition.

That idiot Dury said not long before the goal, "Džeko has played nearly four hours in England now and is yet to score", or words to that effect.
That was the main positive to take from the game. A new striker getting his first goal is important as it can become a millstone

We all saw how important it was to him. I've never seen such passion from him and i've watched him for a long time.

All the doubters will probably be the same that doubted Tevez, or have a go about Jo or Milner etc. You know the one's that defend Ireland when off form etc. They need someone to moan at, someone preferbly not from our youth system.

He would've been criticized so bad if he hadn't scored that one. Not really the best of his games regarding first touch and passing. Also had a half-chance or two that he would normally score from. Not his day, really. Anyway, hope this goal is the first of many, many more to come.

Not his day really?

He scored his first goal for us.

So, what would have been his day, a hat-trick?

Really, some people want the world!

actually, he would have scored at least 2-3 if it was his day :D im not saying he did badly. i just said that i know he can do better.

as for the goal, i'm happy that he scored. even though he said he doesn't feel any pressure, i'm sure he feels at least a bit relieved now.

just watched that post match interview with him on the os...and it just is unbelievable, how down to earth, simple and cheerful that lad is...

and that last question about the match congestion...he's like it's England :)

and as I said few days ago, he'll be first to come to training and among the last ones to leave...like that carrington today feature on the os shows

Couldn't agree more mate - his attitude seems spot on......when you see a kid like that it makes you root for them more and speaking personally, allows for a few dodgy matches, which I'm sure will happen.

Wel Done Edin - keep at it lad.

Lest we forget....

He showed his class in this game, magnificent first touch and vision. He has it in him.

All we can do is get behind him. WE BELIEVE IN YOU EDIN! :)

This was a subtle bump of the thread then...

anyway, he was seen in Sarajevo today having lunch with Jirži Plišek a man (coach) who took him from Zeljeznicar Sarajevo to Poland and basically enabled him to make his first steps towards the career he is having...
